Wild Strawberries

For the most part, we don't watch the blockbusters. Every once in a while they might sneak in, but my brother-in-law is a director in a small video production firm, and has turned us on to some fantastic films, of which I would like to talk about here.

I also used to do movie reviews for the paper in college. I do thank you for reading, and hope you enjoy.

Today I want to talk about the movie Wild Strawberries. A 1957 Ingmar Bergman film, I think it's in Swedish, with subtitles. It focuses on the life of an aging physician, who explores his life's meaning and purpose through a series of events on his way to receive an award for his scholarly achievements. He encounters people from his past, as well as a few strangers, and continuously experiences hallucinations of people from his past. He also just about continuously enjoys cigars throughout the film, I might add.

Overall, I found the film rather easy to get into, not too complicated, with more of a reflective point of view rather than a "live your life this way" point of view. Kind of reminds me of the old Twilight Zone episodes, with it's hallucinations, strange encounters with interesting characters and black-and-white nature.

Overall:
