Thread: Good creamy sweet cigars?

  1. Default Good creamy sweet cigars?

Hey guys, i'm a newbie and just got into cigars and so far all i've tried have been a few Gurkhas. These were all pretty strong in flavor and a bit too peppery/woody for my taste. I just wanted to get some tips from you pros out there on what are some nice creamy/sweet/nutty tasting cigars and which models I should look into. Any help would be much appreciated.

    thanks all

I'll honestly say, I don't smoke many "mild" cigars, but I think you might like something from the Carlos Torano "Casa Torano" line or Carlos Torano Reserva Selecta.

    <caveat> I am not a pro </caveat>

Try something like a 5 Vegas Gold, or maybe even a Hoyo de Monterrey 1066 Excalibur Dark Knight. Come to think of it, while I know the first one is mildish/creamyish/nuttyish, there may be a bigger kick to the Hoyo.

Were you thinking something like that? Or were you looking for flavored cigars?

As a newbie, I gained much more perspective after visiting the Newbie Sampler Thread in the Exchange part of the forum. Make sure you let whoever you pick know that you are looking for milder sticks. It's a great way to gain exposure from a knowledgeable "pro".

I recommend the Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real, Montecristo White, Rocky Patel Vintage 1999. Gees, there's more out there I should be able to think of, but I'm having somewhat of a brain fart. Nonetheless the three I recommended I'm sure you'll enjoy, they are all excellent mild creamy cigars in my book.

I do not smoke but I tend to hand out a few cigars here and there. One guy that I gift cigars to smokes a pipe and loves the vanilla tobacco. I gifted a few very expensive cigars to him and I have learned from the experience what not to waste on him. He loves Romeo and Julita's, he also liked the the S.T. DuPont which just this second I am realizing I've been confusing this cigar with Davidoff since i got the box a year ago and no one has corrected me.!!! OMG ... Anyhow if he likes them they got to be more in line with the pipe tobacco he smokes then not. He told me he had to pitch the Opus X I gave him because it was too strong. I also believe from doing a little research that this might be a good list to try.

Davidoff Anniversary no.3 Tubo: Very much in demand nationally, this medium to rich cigar displays creamy sweetness with a smattering of spiciness that is sure to please the most sophisticated of smokers! Consistency truly is the hallmark of this fine company!
    1. Montecristo White Churchill: A truly beautiful cigar, this wonderful medium-bodied smoke offers a lively dance of cream, spice, and nutmeg. This must be the best Montecristo to date.
    2. Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Royal Sterling Fortis: This rich cigar has exceptional construction. The Honduran Claro wrapper allows for a clean pallet while the roll offers a wonderful burn and a perfect draw. Look for a touch of coffee on the back end of the smoke!
    3. Romeo Y Julieta Reserva Real no.2: This is a great any time, any where medium-bodied smoke that has a fairly complex pallet. Hits of cream, nutmeg, and salt will present while the aroma is light and not offensive to those around.
    4. Diamond Crown Maximus Churchill no.2: This is an excellent medium to rich cigar that displays superior construction and smooth flavor. If you desire the perfect draw and burning, this alone will be worth the price! Definite nutty creamy flavors will remind you why you love cigars!
    5. Punch Gran Cru Monarch: Smooth and creamy, this rich cigar displays a subtle sweetness and a light nutmeg spice! A fine after dinner on the deck choice, this cigar will win you over!
    6. Ashton Double Magnum: A truly fine cigar, this medium-bodied smoke is creamy with a hint of hazelnut and a splash of spiciness. This is a great choice for almost any occasion.
    7. Avo no.3 Classic: Medium to rich, this exceptionally smooth cigar harbors creamy and dark chocolate tones that are great any time, any where!
    8. CAO Criollo Bomba: Sweet and spicy, this medium-bodied smoke has a great construction and a lively pallet. If you enjoy the Arturo Fuente Hemmingway Series but would like more flavor, then you should try this excellent cigar.
    9. Camacho Rare Corojo Toro Dark Natural: This medium to rich cigar is as close to the "Cuban flavor" as you can get without the ATF knocking on your door! Wonderful sweet, spicy and nutty tones encapsulate the pallet while the construction provides a decent burn.

    Thumbs up JR Ultimate

Try the JR ultimate in the natural wrapper. One of my favorites because I've described the flavor profile as exactly what you're looking for. The toro 5-pack is only 12.50 and I've found that size to be quite nice. Also, when they change their deals again you can get a free box of habanitos with a box purchase, and the cigars are less than $3 each in a box.

A lot of great recommendations. I'd like to also mention the Oliva Serie V. Pretty creamy and semi-sweet. Bit of a full-bodied smoke but might be worth trying. Decent price too.

Padron 1926 Series is real creamy. #9 is my favorite.

I would also second the Rocky Patel Vintage 99 nomination and maybe throw in the Edge Lite too. Also the Hemingway line from Fuente might suit your pallete.

OK, I recently tried Casa Royale - a special at Holt's - and these were pretty good. They are medium in strength and imo are about the only thing close to what I consider the unique profile of the Padron 1000 series. While I'm a fan, the Padrons for me often become bitter anywhere in the 2nd half of the cigar. The Royales stayed smooth and interesting throughout.
