    Default Pipe guys

Hey just got a Meer pipe. Buddy that smokes cigars got acouple so I figured I better buy one too. Anyone know where I can find info on older pipes? Or anyone here got any info or seen one like this. Got this one off ebay. Wondering if it is truely vintage. The stem twist off counter-clockwise which I read was true of these pipes in the 50's-60's

NOS 1950’s Mediterranean Meerschaum Hand Carved Pipe
This beautiful old but never smoked large bowl hand carved Meerschaum smoking pipe. This pipe was consigned by a gentleman whose father was given it by a Merchant Marine that got the pipe in the Mediterranean in the 1950’s . The bowl is large measuring 2 ½ inches. It is 6 ½ inches long. It has a pencil mark inside the bowl 5 41
Here are some pics I took

I put this to the heaviest piper I know. Who knows. Without markings of any kind, it's very difficult to tell when and where it's actually from. The stinger is reminiscent of pipes from he 50s-60s, but they were used for many years after that. There were several companies that produced meers during that time period (Grabow, Kaywoodie, etc.) but most of those are marked.

The story behind it could be true, or it could be total hogwash.

Either way, she's a beauty. Congrats on the nice pickup!
