Thread: Cigarsmokers Box Split

    Default Cigarsmokers Box Split

    Hello All,

I felt like doing a monthly Box Split. This is a great way to get a fiver of something that might not be easy to get around your area. Plus the way I plan to run this it's a great way to get some trades under your belt.

How it's going to work.(Subject too change as needed.)

    1. On the first work day of the month I will post a cigar selection and the price.(NC or CC maybe even some custom cigars.) I will also list the pack size(might not be a 5 pack everytime.), how many boxes I can get, also if something free is coming with the purchase(This will be decide by a drawing or divided up.)

    2. Up until around the 15 Th of the month.(First work day after the 15 Th if it's the weekend.) will be the time to post if your in and get me your payment. If I don't have your money by this day you are out. If I know you then check is fine, if not then MO. Now accepting P(iss) P(iss) with fees they charge. If it's a limited boxes then it's first come. This is where being a BOTL comes in. If you say you are in then the others that make up that box are relying on you. If a full box can not be made I will try to work something out. If I can not work it out I will send your money back too you or give you first shot next month.(Your choice.)

    3. If for some reason on a limited box run some one grabs a spot but doesn't get me the money in time then the next person who wanted in but missed will be offer the cigars. They will have a week to get me the money. Otherwise I will ask those involved if anyone wants extra or post them for sale at cost.

    4. That evening or the next day I will place the order.

    5. Up until the first of the next month I will take suggestions on the next box split. During this time is when I'll do the looking around to fine the best deal. If some one knows of a good deal PM me to let me know.

    6. First Post will list current Box section and those that are in. Also if payment is received. I will update this post when ever something changes.

    Rules:(Subject too change as needed.)

    1. No asshats.

    2. First come first serviced.(Not the way some of you might want.)

    3. Since you have to pay before you get anything as long as you pass rule 1 you can play even if your a newbie.

    4. Shipping will be USPS Priority Mail with DC. Current prices as of 05/11/09 for 1 pound(fiver) are $4.95 with DC.

    5. Total cost will be cigars plus shipping. Example: $200 box of cigars. 20 to a box. Cost is $50 + shipping for a 5 pack. Total is $54.95 in my hands before the cut off date.

    Advise:(Subject too change as needed.)

    1: Communication is everything.

    2. If you don't think you can swing it this month then pass. Wait to play until you know you can do it with in the rules. Your character is defined on how you act and follow through with your commitments. They're is always next month.

what kind of cigars are you thinking?
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done." -unknown

NC or CC maybe even some custom cigars. The first one is going to be a NC. I hope to have an answer by the end of today.

I'm in. I'll trust your judgement on the cigars.

Pass the first round? See rule 1.

I'm still working out the numbers but the cigars will be.

Pinar Del Río Habano Sun-Grown and/or Oscuro

    Size I'm open too.

So far from the reviews I like what I hear.

Once I get the numbers I'll update the first post.

This is a great idea DG. I'm going to pass on the first month as well. I need to watch my budget for the upcoming "hole in my pocket" season.

Interested newbie, just wondering if you want to bother sending to Canada?

If so, then I'll post a copy of my "How to send cigars between Canada and the US" guide somewhere here.

    Craig,

The few times I've done it I sent books first class. They tend to show up within a week and cost less. Last time was $3.81 US.

Fiver of Oscuro, please. Postal money order for $35US going out tomorrow. If first-class postage turns out to be more (because it goes by weight), I'll catch up to you next time if that's okay with you.

Just wondering, what size? From the Stogie Review interview, Abe Flores says that the team that rolls the Torpedo is their best team. He also said that what he smokes the most is the Oscuro Torpedo . (He also said the SG wrapper gives hints of Cuban Bolivar, but if I want to taste a Bolivar, I'll smoke a Bolivar!)

The price I got was for the Toro 6x50. I could call for the torpedo 6x52. I don't think it would be a big price jump and I'll cover anyone that has sent a check already hefty or craig.

craig don't worry about the little bit it might cost more. It's all good.

I haven't done the PMO yet - I'll add in a couple bucks. Between Toro and Torp, the list prices are $7.50 apart; catalogue (famous-smoke) prices are $6 apart. Availability may be an issue, though.

Nice of you to set this up DG. Wish I had the funds right now to get in on the PDR's. I've had both the sungrown and oscuro and they pretty tasty.

Sounds like a great idea! I'm finding that I'm into most of the boutique brands that I try out, and I think it would be interesting to see if we could get people from different parts of the country leading splits on boxes you can't get most places, but even like this it's a great idea. Wish I could afford to join in... college....

I talked to Luis from Don Francisco Cigars and he wasn't at the shop so he couldn't get me a price. Let's make it easy and stay with the toro. When we start talking about January box split we can discuss size.
