Default Gurkha Double Maduro ~ Toro

    Other’s Review (nobody yet)

Smoke: Gurkha Double Maduro ~ Toro (I think)
    Drink(s): Yuengling Porter
Tunes: Nothing, just the hum of the exhaust fan

    Wrapper: Costa Rica
    Draw: Meduim thoughout
    Burn: Uneventful
Misc: 90+ minutes Nose exhale exhibits mild to medium burn.

Pre-light: Very dark maduro wrapper (duh). Cedar sleve which imparts a cedar scent, mixed with a tobacco aroma. Not much on the prelight taste.

Light: Medium draw. Medium - strong nose exhale burn.

1st 3rd: Leathery. Good smoke volume. Oily. Slight hint of spice, not really pepper, and not overpowering. Some cedar flavor mixed in too. Pretty compicated flavors, but mixes all very nice, and is pretty smooth.

Ash: White / gray with tiny black specks. You can see where the veins have burned (black) Holds on for 1"

2nd 3rd: I think I'm going to move my "nose exhale" comment for the 2nd 3rd as it always seems more mellow at this point. Lots of the same flavors as described above, but have melded into a nice mellow conglomerate. There are hints of chocolate in there too. Very nice

3rd 3rd: Pretty much like the 2nd. Very cool burn. Very nice. Overall full flavor, and a medium body.

Overall impression: Very good. Score: high 80s

Thanks for the review! I was just doing some inventory and I came across one of these guys so I'm going to have to light it up and compare my experience to yours!

    Thumbs up Love your reviews

Looks like a good one to me. I really like the way you do your reviews. The pics are nice! Always good to have a visual. Too bad I cant smell the aroma, that would be killer! I hope to do some reviews myself like this. That is if a newbie is allowed to. Got any tips on doing one?

Of course newbs are allowed to do reviews. That being said, under no circumstances are you allowed to do a 12 minute video clip of yourself smoking a cigar.

You sure that's not a torplanceafigurbusto?

So, I was digging around looking for the Gurkhas from a sampler pack I bought a while back. I found a couple with similar cedar sleeves; however, neither looks like the one you reviewed. Gurkha makes so many shapes and styles that I can't keep track. *sigh*

Anyway, nice review. Let me know if you want to try a couple of these sample sticks I have.

    Wait.... Torplancerofigurbustorona

I got that mazo from CI a while ago. They're one of the oldest memebers of the humidor (only one left now). I think CI is still selling that same mazo. Hereyago

Had one of these tonight, from that same mazo, so they've got a good 1.5 to 2 years on them.

It wasn't nearly as good as I described on the review. Maybe age isn't doing these guys any justice. It was a solid "meh" to me now. Perhaps my tastes have changed, or it was a bum stick, or my taster is off tonight.

Down in the last 3rd, only for a short period, did I get any discernable chocolate notes, or pretty much anything besides a blandish oil taste.
