Thread: 2011 Tobacco Plant Project

    Default 2011 Tobacco Plant Project

It's time to start thinking about the upcoming crop. I have plenty of the following seeds:
    Havana 142
    CT Broadleaf
    PA Broadleaf

These are all cigar varieties. I only have minimal pipe tobacco seeds, and plan on harvesting seeds from this years crop for next year, but if you're really wanting pipe tobacco I can give you some resources for seeds and maybe share a few...but very few.

I'm willing to share the cigar varieties if anyone is interested in giving this a shot. I have about 300 of each seed to share. No charge, you just have to actually try it and not let the seeds go to waste.

I'll be starting my seeds at the end of this Month.....needs to be at least 30 days before the last frost date in your area.

Here's part of the surviving seedlings, about 2-3 weeks from the field.

    Looking good Jamie!

P.S. I really enjoy the picture updates so please keep them coming, especially the ones from later in the summer when those suckers are looking big and lush.

    Very cool!

I would love to try growing tobbaco, but the climate here probably wouldn't lend itself to good results.

Keep the pics coming and good luck with the crop!

Looks good. I've got some white burly growing on the porch.

Sweet, what strain? I have some Ergo planted, which also a white stemmed burley. I'm not sure why I don't have any pic's.....or maybe I mis-labeled one of the photo's.

I don't know the strain, I got it from a guy in the pipe club. he gave a bunch out to everyone who wanted it. He had started them himself and passed out the seedlings.

This post is useless without pics. Of course, I'm one to talk.

Right on. If your pot is big enough, you should be able to get some processable leaves from it. I've seen 5 gallon buckets work well.

Both of my plants have started to go to seed. It doesn't seem like it's been long enough. Frustrating. They're only like 3-4 feet high.
