    Default 1993

My oldest son turns 18 on September 2 of this year. I want to do something really special for him for the occasion. His birth year was 1993 and I am going to do a time capsule by building a nice sturdy box- lamenating baby pics and other keepsakes from his birth period on the box. I have started obtaining contents over the last couple months- magazines from his birth month, stamps, coins, sports cards, comics etc.

I know this is a wild stab, but I am asking my fellow BOTLs to help. If you have anything from 1993 that you could part with and would make a cool addition to the time capsule chest, please reach out to me. I am willing to purchase or trade cigars of course.

Some of the cooler items I am still looking for-

    Cigar from 1993
Any cigar bands bearing the year 1993 on the label
    Cigar Aficianado (fall 1993)
Rolling Stone Mag (9/2/93)- Jerry Garcia cover.

More sports cards, mags, stamps, coins and comics

I am also open to any ideas you creative fugger's have.....

    Thanks!!!!

Local newspaper front page for his birthday?

I think my Newton is from 1993 - don't think it has anything that says the year, though. :-)

In 1993, I was a budding teenager, developing my angst and disobidience of the system. Helping me to do this was the great music that came out that year. Maybe get the cd covers or the cds themselves to put inside. If I remeber correctly, your son is a musician. I think he would appreciate the music which most likely would be an inspiration to him.

    Nirvana - in utero
    Pearl jam - Vs
    Smashing pumpkins - siamese dream
    Tool- undertow
    Radiohead - pablo honey
    Aerosmith - get a grip
I think Bjorks first albumn came out in 93 also...I'm sure there are others but that's all I can think of right now.

I may have these booklets sitting around I definatley have the cds or maybe even cassettes(believe it or not). I'll look into it James and let you know what I can dig up.

Prepare to feel old. In 1993, I was 5. I went to an English store in Stuttgart this summer and, turns out, they had a very large selection of Scotch. Even better, he sold it either by the bottle, or in little 4 oz sample bottles. I got my brother a little bottle from his birth year. I tried to find mine, but most of his scotch was away at a festival, so I had to settle for one from '89. I don't know what your position is on him drinking a little scotch at 18, but maybe keep it in mind for 21.

    Ok Eville,

I feel really old because I graduated high school in 93! Then reading that this is his 18th birthday makes me think that my 20th Reunion is coming up!

    /sigh

I hated just about everything there is to remember about 1993 and have tried to forget as much about it as possible.

Sorry, I can't help you out. I do have the 1993 issue of Cigar Aficionado but it's part of a complete set that I'm not willing to part with.

1993. I think I had just moved out again for the second time, hadn't met the wife yet, and Ministry still made good music.

I might have a place locally that may have a copy of the 1993 issue of CA. When I shake this cold and get things situated around here, I'll run out there and check.

    Where do you live, Utah?

Keep checking eBay for Utah license plates from 1993. This is all they have right now:

If you have it and are willing to part, I'll take it. PM me and we can work a trade.

I have to ask what are his interests?

I was just searching on Google and eBay for stuff, cigar related etc. but if he's into coin collecting, or knives, or something like that, maybe a search for something like that.

You're pretty crafty with the cigar bands....what about a collage, rectangular maybe 6x16, and then trace out "1993" on that and xacto it out and frame it?

I might have something interesting in the attic at my parents house. I was 20 at the time and bouncing around a lot and have random boxes of stuff over there.

As far as that license plate listing link I gave you, he's asking way too much for that plate.
