    Default Seasoning my humidor

Ok, I bought a humidor from my Platoon Sergeant about a week ago. He told me he never used it because he has other humidors that are just more practical for his lifestyle. Its a really nice 100 cigar humidor but I am having an issue. How long does it take to get it up and running? Since I have started seasoning it (As soon as I got it home the night I bought it) the humidity level has gone up only 4 notches. sitting now at 45% humidity. I have a non-scented sponge soaked with water and a rectangle humidifier in the bottom drawer. I am constantly filling up the rectangle, the sponge stays soaked with out me adding water. But the humidor is not really giving me much progress. Is this normal? How long does it usually take for a humidor this size to be fully seasoned?

    Thanks for your help.

Have you calibrated the hygrometer? Is it analog or digital? That's where I'd start. If the hygrometer is inaccurate, which I would suspect, you have no idea what the rh really is. Ya gotta know that first.

The analog hydrometer are so inaccurate i toss them in the trash day one.
Get a digital one and calibrate it, they also need calibrating but they don't change calibration like the analog ones do.

I had a nice glass hydrometer i really wanted to use in my main humidor but the damn thing just would not stay calibrated for more than 2 months.
Temperature seams to effect them drastically and down here in SC one week its 40 the next its 75 so mine were changing constantly and utterly useless.

This, ofcourse wouldnt be a problem.

The first stop is getting the humidor to 70% without any cigars in the humidor. Once it is stable at 70% you can fill it with cigars, and monitor your himidifier the next days.

    1 cigar or 200 cigars.. 70% is 70%

To asnwer the other question; it took my Humidor 6 full days to get it stable on 70% without a sponge or cup of water.
