    Default Lighter Help

I've been smoking using BICs and the cheapest torches I can find for years now, and I feel that it's come time to finally invest in a classier, metal flip top lighter, especially considering the promotion I am up for at my job.

However, I'm having difficulty finding some in my price range. I'm in search of a butane flip-top lighter under $200, not a torch. The Dunhill Rollagas is one of my dream lighters (I prefer the look of Dupont Line 2, but their stupid gas cartridges are too much of a pain for my taste and I hear they're rather heavy anyways), however that is clearly out of budget.

Is there anything similar to those type of lighters in the sub-$200 range I could go with?

I just bought a butane insert for a Zippo style lighter off of Amazon

Those look really cool, I've always liked Zippos'. Did you get the torch or soft flame, and how do you like it?

Mine is a soft flame and I like it a lot.

I'd have never bothered as I already own two XiKar torches but the wife bought me a zippo style lighter with the RyJ emblem on it as a present a while back and I wanted to be able to use it.

I have a couple torches as well. I've been thinking about getting a soft flame for my desk. The Zippo might be the one. Thanks.

Get this. I have always been let down by torches but I have one of these bad boys and it has never let me down.

Atoll/Brizard make some very nice soft flame lighters for right around the $200.00 mark.

Here is a dual flame lighter that works off butane and flint. It also features a dual flame like the flame on certain ST Duponts. The weight and feel to the lighter are solid just as their Old Boy pipe lighters are. I would definitely pick this up as my main lighter if I didn't already have working ones.

Most -not all high end lighters are like a fine Italian sports car. Beautiful and elegant but a piece of shit and hellish to maintain

If you shop around, you can probably find a big ass box of wooden matches in your price range.

I just use my gas stove when home and use a Bic when I'm away. I have like 2 torch lighters but they don't seem to last very long and I always have to refill them back up. I get more lights out of a Bic.

That cracks me up that they're charging shipping. You would think they could just roll that into the price, but I guess there's just not enough profit built in.

Oh I would never spend that much money on a lighter, I was thinking maybe if I was a millionairess and there was nothing left to buy. It is kinda pretty though...but I would just feel too guilty about starving children or homeless kittens to be so cavalier.

Yes'm something like that so I am sure if I play my cards right and keep saying my prayers that I may find that lighter in the bottom of a box lot I buy for a few shelling's at a church bazaar.
