Default To my East Coast brothers and sister

You will all be in my thoughts and prayers during this storm. I hope all of you prepared well for Sandy. I've been running around like crazy trying to be ready. I hope I've done enough to minimize the damage. God bless and stay safe everyone.

Yesterday, I picked everything up at least 15" off the floor, or above the basement door level. In the process, I whacked my eye with the end of my mountain bike handlebars and my left eye is doing this: I now have a cornea abrasion and some antibiotic eye drops. The only thing left down there is if the power's out and it's flash flooding in town, I'm pulling the gun off the oil burner and cracking the back door.

We didn't really rush out and buy a bunch of stuff. Authorities are saying if the power (high probability) goes out, that we're supposed to boil water.

I was at work today for about 1 hour, then came home to go to the eye doctor, and everyone else who was there said they were leaving at lunch, so as not to get caught on the way home with trees and shit down. Tomorrow is probably going to be shitcanned for everyone.

It's been raining, I'd say light to moderate since last night, and now the wind is starting to pick up.

Rich, what are you worried about in Key West anyway?

Just starting here. I'm expecting wind gust of up to 60mph and a few inches of rain. I live 40mi from the ocean so I don't think a storm surge is an issue. Power will definitely go out, though. Just a matter of time and how long. Wife works at the hospital. Sick people don't take the day off, so her getting to and from work is a concern. I'm a closet survivalist so I got more than enough gear, food, water, gas, and kerosene to get by for a while. Those folks on the Jersey shore are screwed, however. Storm statistics have already exceeded Irene and the blow hasn't even come ashore yet.

Stay safe guys, hopefully it won't be as bad as they're reporting it may be.

Sofar windy and mild rain with a hint of leather and chocolate...wait.

Just a couple trickles across the basement floor. The rain doesn't seem anywheres near as intense as TS Lee was last year (Irene really didn't do squat here but it's the big comparison.) Its just coming down sideways... Up the road 15" of rain was measured from Lee.

I am not hoping for a repeat.

Very lucky here the power even stay on despite winds that snapped a metal road sign in half in front of my house. A few miles from us someone lost the roof off their home. The rain wasn't that bad and I am not near the shore so that part did not effect me. I hope you all are safe. I bet CC lost is electric too many tree's up his way. Lets us know how you did logan.

Sitting here in the airport waiting to get home as we speak, my mom tells me my neighborhood looks like a war zone, hopefully my flight lands at Kennedy without a hassle.

Good luck to anyone else out there dealing with this.

Unfortunately my flight back to Key West was canceled.

Were doing ok. Lost power for only 27 hours. Some tree limbs broke off. I live in the center of Long Island, so no flooding here. I was very fortunate through this storm.
The coast here had huge swells of water coming in. I think the tide rose about 11-15 feet around the island. I heard reports of boats settling on peoples front yards. Trees are down everywhere and about 90% of homes were without power. Not sure how many are back on as of now. I think I read about 83% are still out. Thats about 800,000 homes in NYC and Long Island.

Hopefully none of you are experiencing worse conditions. Be safe everyone.
