Thread: Cigar Draft II

  1. #1

    Default Cigar Draft II

The Godfathers of the Cigar Draft ricmac25 & gatorsmg at Cigar Snobs came up with this idea and I want to run with it here.

This is a pass of sorts but done in a fantasy football draft style.

    # of participants
This is an Invite only Cigar Draft. Don't worry if your not in this time the next time this is run you could be.

    # of sticks to play
5 sticks each. These will be Snob sticks.

    How it will work
Everyone playing will submit 5 sticks to the draft. These sticks should be posted in the draft thread. All sticks will be mailed to me along with $4.00 to help with my shipping costs back to each participant. Once all sticks have been received I will post a list of all cigars in the draft. We will make our selections just as in a fantasy football draft ie: if there are five players each player chooses any one stick per turn in this order 1,2,3,4,5,5,4,3,2,1 etc. I figure the only fair way to come up with a pick order is to have a non bias person here on Cigarsmokers put all of the participants names in a hat and draw them one at a time, the 1st drawn being first to pick in the draft and so on. After each selection is made it will be posted in the thread and the next person will make their selection. We will set some sort of time limit on this so it doesn't take forever to complete our draft. Once everyone has selected their 5 sticks and the draft is completed I will mail each player their selections.

So it's basically a pass but instead of taking your turn and then seeing something you would have liked to try pop up later when it's too late you get to see ALL of the possibilities up front. Of course the hard part is deciding which sticks are a "priority for you".

    Time Table
This is open to change if need be.
All sticks must be received by March 20, 2006.
The draft will start March 20, 2006 at 8:30am and run until finished. I hope by March 24, 2006 to be finished. Once done I will mail them out hopefully that day if not then the next. Also if you aren't going to be around you can send me a list of the cigars in the order you want to pick. If your turn comes up the first on your list will be choosen. If someone has picked that one then the second and so on down the list.

Sounds like a pretty cool way of doing a pass. Don't have to worry about missing out on a good stick because it wasn't there when you make your takes.

If I'm cool enough to warrant an invite I would definitely be interested in this. If not I'll catch you next year. Good going on the draft though.

Yeah I did, even more so cause I forgot the 4 bucks, then with a sealed package saw I could only get quarters in, and I did laundry that day. It was a lame move on my part to throw 16 quarters (oh well, good for the tooth fairy times, right?). But, I definitely wanted to send a little (literally) guy that is my go to cigar.

    BigMacFU,

Just got the box of cigars and quarters. The mailroom maked the box as "Received in Damaged Condition" They heard the quarters slidding around and figured it was broken glass or something.
