I don't know if I am spelling this correctly, however, we were told when we were stationed in Germany that a frickadel sandwich was made of horse meat. Frickadel was like a ground beef (horse?) served on a brotchen (roll) - kinda like a hamburger. Not sure if it's true or not, but I do know those damn sandwiches were mighty tasty!

Well, I have had raw horse - horse sushi - while I was in Japan. It was not bad, it tasted like raw meat, but we dipped it in a seasoned soy sauce. And at the time, I had been to a Japanese German beer garden, then two shot bars, before we had the horse sushi. But from what I can remember it was good.
