Default What you guys look for in a cigar shoppe?

I want to know everything, I am currently going to college for International Business with a minor in French. I LOVE cigars like everybody here, and just want to get research because my dream is to some day open my own place!
    -Thank You!

First and foremost, a place that sells cigars.

After that, all bets are off.

Must haves for any cigar store:

    • Cigars from all over the world, including Thailand, Norway, Czech Republic, Lithuania, and - of course, Mascedonia.
    • Wine and Scotch bar
    • Gourmet chef and dining facility (what goes better than a cigar than a thick, juicy steak!)
    • Workout facility complete with scantily clad massage therapists - so I can lift weights while smoking a cigar (that's how Arnold got so massive) and get a good rub down afterwards.
    • Betting parlor, including table games. But no slot machines - those are for girls.
    • An on-staff horse racing handicapper (to go along with the betting parlor)
    • Small, nine hole golf course out back.
    • On premise dry cleaner

Good luck with your venture. I'm sure if anyone's going to make it work, it will be you!

BTW - you have to get in contact with YoungForbes - our resident venture capitalist. He's hard to get a hold of, but if you can connect with him I'm sure he'll want in with you!

I think he's looking for actual help, not smart-ass replies. Can you please be serious like the rest of us?

Unless it's fall or winter....then it's single malt Scotch, hookers, and a really cool Indian. Oh, and a significant amount of smart-ass replies.

No hookers!!! My wife would KILL me if I was hanging out with hookers!

...scantily clad massage therapists would be okay, though.

and for those of us that don't drink...........

A head shop with with a nice assortment of pipes and bongs.

Oh yeah I almost forgot, the place should really have a pole and strippers.

My wife has made an interesting observation about Canada. She has opined that life in Canada must be boring, because there's an awful lot of bars and strip clubs dotting the countryside (I guess not that much to do during those long, cold winters). I'm not quite sure it's out of the norm (Canada vs. U.S., for example), but wifey sure picked up on it.

I'm looking out for my Canaduan bretheren and in the interest of dispelling any potential myth - perhaps you could scale back your request for "poles" and "strippers" and maybe just settle for scantily clad massage therapists?!?

Well, I can live with that. As long as it comes with a "Happy Ending"

LOL - scantily clad massage therapists work for me. Oh and yes, it's the long cold winters for sure. There just isn't much to do at -40 C (about -40 F) out of doors so most people stay inside if they can.

I have noticed similar establishments all over Wisconsin. Though - there's a similar setups throughout Nevada. Maybe it's not the weather?!?

In the US, there are many roadside churches and car dealers. I'll take bars and strip clubs.

Well the whole idea is I want to provide a place where new and old smokers alike a place to sit down and enjoy their cigars. I want to be able to provide fully humidified lockers, over sized leather chairs and couches, nice tv's, kitchen, bar, wine cellar.

See - your vision is SO mainstream - old school kind of thinking. Many shops have failed because the owner was afraid to venture outside the box! Break through to that next level - change the paradigm.

You truly want the create a cigar shop that is a "destination" - a place people want to go and hang out. You want to have a wide variety of services and products available that customers will spend money on.

    Consider:

    • Multi-screen movie theater
    • Indoor skate park
    • Indoor water park
    • High end hotel
    • Bowling alley (I know, but they're making a come back...)
    • Live bands
    • 500+ beer and/or wine selection
