Humidor problems

Rate this Entry
I recently bought a humidor and cant seem to get the levels to get down to the desired 65 to 75 range.

I did everything that instructions said to do but it stays around 80 all the time unless I open it and leave it open for a while. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

Do a search for beads in the forum. This is actually posted as a blog so it's less likely to be read.

The beads keep your humidty stable.

    Did you calibrate your hydrometer?

Open the humi and leave it open for awhile. Then fit it out with beads.

The margin for error on the analog (round gauge) hygrometers is much greater than for digitals. IMO, the latter are better, cheaper in the long run.

Where are you keeping your humi? What is the ambient humidity? If teh seal is not good then you will not be able to maintain anything but the ambient. Try moving your humidaor to a drier location.
