wow I just seen this..is that yours? That is a really nice piece. I would of never guessed it was a bed and I been around antiques for a long time. I have never seen anything like that ever. Is it a mid-west thing?

If I'd have seen it earlier I would have guesed a comode. I would have been wrong, of course, but it's ornate and made of what appears to be quartersawn oak. I imagine it's worth a lot of money.

I thought oak at first also, but just doesn't look grainy enough to me. Ash maybe?

I wounder if that traveled on a ship...with someone higher up in rank or someone upper class traveling. It's oak very old.
