Comcast sucks sour frog ass - looking for recommendations on a new service

So after Comcast bought Time Werner Houston, our service gets worse and worse. Poor reception, hours upon hours of outages and lost signals. So finally I decide to cancel all my movie packages and just use Netflix to get my movies.

I call and am told that there is a $1.99 charge to cancel any services. Are they shiiting me? No, you have to pay to cancel any part of your package. So I told them this just adds to the many reasons I am starting to dislike Comcast. Any apologies or attempts to make me a satisfied customer? Nope, just screw you, pay the $1.99 and have a nice day.

I've never had satellite TV before, but I watch Dish TV at my smoke shop and I am alway seeing the dreaded "searching for signal" whenever it rains. So can anyone fill me in - how reliable is satellite TV? For the first time in 17 years, I am actually considering satellite but I am wary of switching due to concerns about signal loss.

I've set them up, and re-adjusted them to increase service. The fact remains that you are depending on weather and nature for television reception. I have an uncle in upstate NY that loses it during heavy snows in the winter. I have other friends in the south that loses it during heavy rainstorms. If you live in the woods, and things like trees or power lines are in the way, they can create interference.

I personally sold my TV years ago, bought a projector and high quality glass-beaded pull-down screen, hooked it up to surround sound, and got a Netflix account. I just got tired of relying on services. You can pretty much either buy, rent, or download any of today's TV shows, anyway, so I saw no point in going through a middle man.

i have dish and have not had a problem but i live in the city with mild weather conditions. My dad however lives in the mountains and he sometimes loses signal but not for more than an hour. I also have a netflix account cause there never any good movies on dish but i keep it for things like the speed channel and all the espn channels. we could just order movies off of dish but we dont have a phone line so my roomates decided to get netflix. if you only watch movies i would say go with netflix but if you like to watch the news or sports i would just get the lowest package that dish has i think it is only like 40 bucks. We had directv a few years ago and through all of the varying degrees of weather MT threw at us we didn't have a single signal loss...of courseI'm sure there are just as many people who've had nothing but problems with all of the different providers so I'd talk to some neighbors and see how their service is.
FWIW I've heard nothing but bad things about comcast/tw (but happy people don't tell everyone do they?)

I don't have any recommendations. Just wanted to say that Comcast does suck balls. I'm thinking of just going with over the air HD and renting movies through Netflix. I'm not really impressed with any of the satellite services either, especially with all of the storms we get around here.

Ok thanks for the feedback. I DVR a few shows I really like so dependability of service is important to me. I may just cut my service back to basic cable as that is all I really watch anyway.

The title of this thread reminded me of an actual town in Arkansas called (I shit you not) Toad Suck.
