I was curious if any of you pipe smokers use brass bowl sccreens in your pipes to protect the bottom of your bowl from burning out? If so how does it help or hinder your smoking experience? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Double post = hitting the screen
Actually screens are not needed. If you break in your pipe properly burning out he bottom of the bowl will not happen. Dip your finger in some honey and wipe the inside of the bowl...Just a thin layer. Let it dry overnight and smoke it the next day. Shake the ash around in the bowl. Smoke the pipe several times repeating the shaking of the ash in the bowl. This will build up a kake on the bowl walls. It should prevent burnout on a bowl. Just smoke your pipe carefully the first few times.
If you are smoking a fancy brass pipe you prolly need a screen...Flaming hot seeds on your tongue are a real buzz kill.:smiley2:
