Junk Humidor

A couple years ago when i was just starting out, I stopped by ebay and drop 19.99 on a little travel humidor.

My initial newb thoughts were that it was an extraordinarily nice humidor for the price with its spanish cedar lining and good seal. Then as time went on, it lost its ability to hold a steady RH. The other day I finally got fed up with it after a botched caulking attempt and stabbed it with my 2.5" SOG Flash I. expecting it to penetrate just enough to still stand out of it, you can imagine my surprise when the blade went clear through. That was when I discovered my humidor's true construction.

The thing was made out of cardboard. The "spanish cedar lining" if even spanish cedar at all, was incredibly thin. I cant tell you exactly how thin as i dont have anything small enough to measure it, but i would estimate no thicker than one sheet of copy paper, as you can kind of see on the left side of the hole in this pic.

Now, I know most of the seasoned veterans of this board would never consider purchasing such a fine product, but just a little warning for the newbs out there: It really is true, you get what you pay for.

I'm sorry to hear that happen. Unfortunatley, in premium ciagrs (as in most thing in life) and accessories...... you get what you pay for.

I hope you removed your stogs before you stabbed it? I would hate to think that you mudered a Fuente in a fit of rage.

No worries there, that humidor has been desolate for months. Not to mention I doubt I could do anything to a Fuente worse than what Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia could do :smiley3: I moved all my babies into a tuperdor until i move into my apartment this week and can have a new humi sent there.

Unfortunately the phrase you get what you pay for hits home. I can remember starting out when I bought my first humidor what a piece of junk it was but it looked nice. The more educated you become in this hobby the better your purchases will be. We all have gone thru this period and you can jumpstart your education by reading the boards as there is some excellent posts. Even though I have been an avid cigar smoker for about 40 years I learn something new everytime I log on and read.

Now your other post on CigarPass & CigarSnobs just won't do. You sir have dug yourself a deep hole. The problem is I don't think you can get yourself out of it. Now before you go off and say they started it lets look at the numbers. Half a dozen proven BOTL's verse you. Plus everything in a few threads & chat Logs that you and others have posted. I read the threads and the chat logs and see who you have gone after and the hole just gets deeper. I would recommend going to CL but you have already been Banned from there. My best advice would be simple to go away. But you won't take that. I would then advise you to apologize to those you have offended. Most places you can't since you have been banned at them and once again I don't think you would do it. You can try to go on like nothing happen but that will not sit. The dogs are hungry here as they haven't had an asshat for good long while. So let the games begin.
