I think it's about the sweetness in the drink, complementing the cigar. Other members on this board have commented about drinking something sweet while smoking, whether it be tea or soda. The fact that Oban is a bit sweet and smooth (as opposed to, let's say Beam's Five-Star Whiskey), makes it an enjoyable experience.
I would have to agree with the sweetness theory. Smoking a cigar and srinking scotch are, in and of themselves, very mellowing experiences. The combination is even better :smiley20:
