Welcome to the board from northwest Louisiana.
I did a little bit of looking, because to be honest with you, I'm kind of interested as well. I'm not really in a position to do this now, but would at least like to read about it.
It looks like your best bet would be to grow your own tobacco. Another member on this board that is growing his first batch (search is your friend), and I'm interested.
On resource is here, another is here, and yet another is here. My guess is that you'd need a relatively stable warm climate, time, and no tomato plants nearby. Then you need more time to allow for fermentation. I've actually ordered some seeds (the wife did, actually), but they haven't come in yet. I plan on posting regularly my growing adventures.
Good luck, and let us know what you come up with.
Try this. Click on "Leaves for Sale"
His prices seem outrageous, though. And he uses frames on his website. Two strikes.
Sounds like an interesting idea. However, I don't have the fine motor skills or dexterity to even think about it. Ten left thumbs...:smiley1:
That's an interesting question...
I'm thinking out loud here, but I wonder if you can go to a dealer that rolls cigars and work a deal out for some tobacco. I know there's a small outfit in San Antonio that has some excellent hand rolled cigars - Latin Gold Maybe try to reach out to them and ask what it would take to buy some of their raw stuff... Worth a shot!
Let us know how your search goes - I gotta think there's SOME PLACE that will sell you raw leaf tobacco...
Thanks guys, found some raw leaves from an outfit in south Fl. cost is about buck a stick in the end, they sell them for about 10 bucks apiece, I may give it a try, leaves are from Nic and Hon, Thanks again, T.
