This is a big cigar. I smoked it after consuming some hot wings and micro brew pilsner, so it was a pretty good day!

Perdomo has decent smokes, but generally nothing really memorable. This cigar was nice though, when it burned well. It's a good looking cigar, with a shiny dark brown Connecticut wrapper. The fillers are Nicaraguan. The cigar had a subtle spicy cedar note before lighting. It was on the medium side of mild in body. The cigar had a nice aromatic, cedary flavor. I can't say how it developed at the end,because I didn't get that far.

It had been napping in cedar for a year now, so I didn't expect any burn problems, but I had a couple anyway. The smoke lit well and started out fine. About an inch into it, I started to have a problem drawing smoke. The base of the cigar had a small split in the wrapper. I covered it with my thumb and continued on. About mid-way, there was a bad spot in the fillers. It burned poorly and the smoke was kind of nasty. After a half inch, it burned itself out and everything tasted normal again. Then, it developed a second split in the wrapper. I let it go out with 1/3 of the cigar left unsmoked.

I've notied that I usually get wrapper split problems on the really big cigars like this. Regardless, the cigar doesn't get high marks from me, primarily due to the mid-burn problem and wrapper split issues.

That IS a big cigar. Nice review. I've smoked several different lines of the Perdomo family, and I still probably like the Habanos as my favorites. I notice wrapper splitting problems with those, too, by the way. The rest, well, I'll smoke them if I find them at a good price, but I won't necessarily go out of my way to pick them up.

Did you get a chance to smoke any of the ESV's? I won a sampler at an event at my local B&M at the time. I suppose I was thinking it would deliver something more like what Ashton's VSG's do for their line of cigars, but it just didn't. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy them, but they gave me little incentive to go out and buy more.

I picked up a Perdomo robusto sampler off CI not to far back, so I may have one of those. Perdomo may not have the best cigars, but they do have a nice price generally. I've had some of the limited reserve robuto's before, and I liked them, so I was a little disappointed with this one.

I picked up a box of the Double Eagles on the devil site for yard gars. The first one I smoked was plugged up with a thick hunk of stem that was about 4" long. Not terribly impressive, but for only $1.75/stick they're OK.

The Perdomo golf line in general disappointed me because I expect a decent smoke from Perdomo. I too had the double eagle and unfortunately the wrapper split on me also. I have had the ESV but am still more impressed with the Lot 23. I find that the price I can get the Lot 23 for is great from my local B&M.
