Greetings Friends,
I am a young man of 22 years and was considering taking up the occasional cigar post a good meal or drink of port. Well, as a beginner, which brand do you recommend, please take the cost into account, I am a student on a tight budget.

a decent priced, good cigar for a noob, i'd say sancho panza natural or maduro.
padron fumas are even cheaper. ugly, but taste great!
I have only been smoking for a year
This first box I bought war Carlos Torano Exodus Robust.
Its a nice smooth smoke that is mild yet just enough flavor. Good construction and burn.
Also the robusto will not take you an hour 1/2 to smoke.
I would recommend getting either some samplers or the cigar of the month club.

Where do you live? My guess is that you are in the UK which means the official "Welcome Wagon" (SFG75 aka Scotty) recommended a bunch of crap that is probably not available in Europe.
So before I give you any recommendations, I need to know where you live.

And Consuerga's have so many different characteristics depending on age and vitola that I wouldn't just point to that line and say "here!". You may be lucky and hit a good one, but chances are the good ones have been taken by someone who knows better, leaving the less than desireable vitolas. Consuerga's are factory seconds of some very nice cigar factories - and also of some less than nice factories. They are sold as seconds for a reason...
Perdomo Overruns? More factory seconds of cheaper cigars - why buy factory seconds of Perdomo when the originals are not badly priced to begin with? I'm not at all sure about these - I generally like Perdomo, but I have to admit - I'm always cautious about bundled cigars.
LVH Fumas (BTW - "LVH" stands for La Vieja Habana - a Drew Estates cheapie cigar, which Alfred assumes you know) Ok... Another el-cheapo cigar... For a new cigar smoker, Alfred? These tend to be a bit more powerful than most he'd probably like to try at first. I would have to say, I'm sure he'd like to have a base of reference with some decent cigars before he went wandering off into this line...
Alfred, please stop... Cheap cigars, true - but I'd say there were some other lines he'd probably want to try before he wandered off into these cigars... Unless you're trying to turn him off to cigars right away... You'd be damn near as well telling him to go to Walgreen's and pick up Peach White Owls, Antonio y Cleopatra or a Bering cigars... C'mon!!!
Before I give my suggestions for cigars, I recommend this. Go to your local cigar store see what they have to offer and if the they will help out. They should be more than accommodating. If not, here's what I would do. First go with a larger cigar, maybe a churchill or torpedo. You don't have to finish it, so don't force yourself. But a cigar that size should stay a little cooler. That way the heat won't get to your throat as fast. After that try a Dominican cigar. They are generally (I use this loosely) less spicy than, say, Nicaraguan. Maybe a partagas 'S' series, that should be good. Lastly, if you are outside the US, you can go cuban. If so, try a H.upman Connaisseur No.1. They are flavorful but mild.
But I would first go to a local shop and see what they offer. :smiley37:
The Champion by Punch cigars is what sold me on the cigar hobby. I smoked cigars every couple months or so with an aficionado buddy of mine and I'd always bring the fresh hand-rolled cigars from my local cigar retailer in Little Italy (great smokes by the way), but when he handed me my first champion and I smoked it, I was hooked for good! Try the Punch Champion, Punch is known for its strength, but the champion smokes so smooth and balanced because of the shape.

You can't go wrong with Padron. The 2000 is what captured me into cigars. I tried some of the cheapos starting out and, personally, I thought people who smoked cigars were lunatics for doing that to themselves intentionally. Then I tried the Padron 2000 and I understood. Another I liked was the Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Toro. Nice and smooth and not overpowering. Burn was seldomly like one would prefer, but nothing to awful. You could also try the Onyx Reserve. These can be had for a fair price.
You really want to develop your taste before you start searching the bottom floor of the cigar world or you will suffer greatly and probably not develop a love for the leaf. There are some good low dollar sticks, but they are few and far between.

Righteo, I live in Ireland, and I dont have a decent mode of transport as of yet, thus I cannot travel around to cigar shops, basically my neighbourhood shopping center or mall for our US friends is my best bet, we in the UK and Ireland have Newsagents, corner shops, I believe they sell cigars, but I dont want to walk into them and say " give me your cheapest cigar" far too much of a snob to do anything of that sort, also something that has just come to mind is an off licence, I have one of those in walking distance also. Some techniques on how to get started would be very beneficial to me, also I was chatting with some of my friends who smoke *gasp* cigarets, I hate those bloody things, they wanted to know how cigars are better/worse than cigarets, and any health concerns.
