I've been running a couple experiments to try to see the effects of marrying (keeping different cigars in the same humidor without cello so that the flavours blend).
The first experiment was to keep a half a bundle of Flor de Oliva Corojo's in a humidor full of Padron Maduros for six months to see how the FdO's would change. There were about 1/10th the number of FdO Corojo's as Padron Maddies - the idea being that the Padrons wouldn't be affected as much as the FdO Corojo's.
As expected - and admittedly not blind - the FdO Corojo's in the Padron-a-dor smoke much nicer to me than the FdO's that I kept isolated. (I like Padrons.)
The second experiment was/is putting half a cab of Por Larranaga Petit Corona's together with half a cab of Partagas Shorts. The jury is still out on that one, but after a year, so far the Party Shorts seem to have picked up a bit of the PLPC's trademark caramel, but the milder PLPC's seem to have stronger earth notes and are fuller-bodied now.
YMMV.
