I have taken a liking to Fuente Hemingway Signature but at 9$ a pop its too steep to enjoy often, any ideas for a alternative that more easy on my wallet.

This is just me, but I've found the Oliva G line to be similar to the hemi line, but they're not much less expensive. You will be very hard pressed to find anything under 5 bucks that's going to be like a hemmingway.

No I haven't but honestly $2.80 a stick is cheap enough to find out without breaking the bank. cheap alternative's, are cheap. but it's a recommendation, no one has to take it.
On the other hand, if he does just buy 1 single from Famous he'll end up paying 5 bucks or so on shipping and end up at square one with a dog rocket.Quote:

My idea of less expensive is 4-6$ for a cigar. I have been looking at the reviews and the Padron's seem to be enjoyed and from looking at CI some of them are in medium range. And the price seems to be less also.
My problem from reading this is that my intro was to one of the best.

Yes, yes, and yes. I especially love the little maduritos.
I don't know that anyone is saying there are none better than the Hemingway, I think they are saying there are none just like the Hemingway. There is a big difference there. If given the choice, I'd probably pick most Padron over the Hemingway. I'd even choose Sarge's recommendation over a Hemingway.Quote:

Stopped by a very small cigar shop and there was a woman from H. Upmann giving a presentation on their 1844 Reserve. I purchased a few and got a freebie Toro. Never been lucky enough to walk into a demo and she knew cigars.

Now that we're on cheap cigars...
Anyone who likes Padron but not the price needs to try Nica Libre, which is closer to Padron than any pipe tobacco match came to Early Morning Pipe. Some of you will get that.
As for good, cheap smokes, I still say that 5 Vegas, dollar for dollar, is one of the best cigars out there. They may not hold up to the uberexpensive sticks, but they're a lot better than their price tag. Try the Series A for something in the ballpark of the Fuentes.
I know some people do smoke to look cool and because of cheap prices.

I found my replacement for the Fuente Hemingway and it is another Fuente the Short Story. Great cigar, nice taste, wife like the room note.
And they are a lot less expensive.
The saleman at 2guys in NH introduced me to Fuente Between the Lines way outside of my wallet. That's a once a year cigar.
