Bad idea. Not sure why - there'll be guys come on soon to explain, I just wanted to warn you off this before you stuck 'em in the frig. Better to put them in ziplocks with a water pillow (available at most cigar shops). Tupperware-like plastic boxes of many sizes are available at any large grocery store. If you happen to have humi-beads, use them instead of water pillow. Or that green stuff florists use for flower arrangements, in a small container. Keep them somewhere out of sunlight too. Tempurature around 70 is important. steady temps around 80 will encourage bugs to hatch and temps in a car on a hot day will change the flavor of cigar.
The temperature isn't the problem - humidity is! Refrigerators by definition dehumidify the air inside. Stick you hygrometer in your fridge and check.
If you stick your cigars in there they'll soon be as dry as chalk. Not a good plan.
Like Basil said, throw your smokes in tupperware with a little bit of sponge and some distilled water. A fridge is too dry and so, any prolonged exposure will dry out your smokes. The only time I put smokes in the fridge are when I get a new batch of smokes in the mail and it's been real hot out. I will then put those newly arrived smokes in my freezer for 24 hours to make sure the beetles don't hatch. Other than this though, my smokes don't go near a fridge.
alright thanks guys! the tupperware idea is great!
NEW tupperware. Unless you want meatloaf-flavored cigars...
Mmmmm...meatloaf...that's not a bad idea...

Any thoughts on storing cigars in a properly humidified air tight container in the refrigerator?

Putting your cigars in the freezer 24hrs won't crack beetle eggs or larvae. An industrial freezer (-20) is recommended for at least 3 days (72hours) and a regular consumer freezer some say 10 days, some say longer.Quote:
