How can you tell....

...if a cigar is dry when you buy it? Are there any clues I should look out for that will tell me whether a cigar may be dry or not?

It will be light for it's size. The wrapper will feel dry and papery. It may have cracks or splits. When gently squeezed, it will have a "crackly" sound and feel.

Best bet is to only buy from a reputable place. I usually peek at the hygrometers in shops to see what they're reading...
