Had one of these the other day, and have to say wasn't that impressed.
Its a nice box pressed cigar with nice appearance, but when lite... burned very uneven, had to relight half way through. The ash was a light grey, but broke every 3/4" or so.
As for taste, had some earthy notes to it, but was a little too mild for my taste.
Would rate this a 87-88 on the CA scale.
Any thoughts guys? Did I get a bad one? Ive seen this rated quite bit higher !
I like the Robustos sized ones. They are not in my rotation though.

Lately Ive been having problems with my beads. I have a 3 tiered humidor, with 2 x 2 oz tubes, but lately my RH is falling below 60, I have recharged the beads, and still the same effect. I was gonna post this as a new thread but beads have been discussed a lot.Quote:

Sounds like your box is too wet. Recently recharged beads with the rh still that low makes me think something may be wrong with your hygrometer. An uneven burn on your cigar(s?) suggests they may be too wet to burn properly. Try puting another hygrometer in the humidor to see if the readings match, or run a salt test on the one you have in there now.Quote:

Ive done that, I have two hygrometers in there from day one, and they read the same. Maybe off once and awhile, 2 degrees or so either way. The punch has been the only on lately to burn uneven. I emailed heartfelt but since its the holidays, no reply yet.
Ironic that you made this post about this cigar. I made the long journey to do an overnight gambling trip yesterday. I ended up smoking 2 of the Punch rare Corojos (magnums) last night. Although not overly impressed, I found this to be a nice inexpensive casino cigar. I did not have the burning issues you mention, so I would have to side with the fact that your humidity level may be a tad high.
Yeah, it could be, didn't have a problem with the RP 1990 Vin. Robusto I smoked tonight.
But for now I took the beads out and put in my old sponge humidifiers, just until I hear back from Heartfelt regarding my problem. If anybody has any suggestion let me know?:smiley6:
I've been pleased with my beads.
Test your hygrometer again (salt test). The way your cigars are burning sounds as if things are too humid, yet your hygrometer says its a bit on the low side.
If your humidor humidity is low, recharge your beads. Use a spritz bottle, eye dropper, or just place a shot glass of distilled water in there.
Flashlight test. Make sure your humidor has a good seal.
Doesn't humid air rise? I think that's right. If so, keep your beads towards the bottom of your humidor.
Temperature. You don't want big swings in the temperature of your humidor.
