Victor Sinclair Bohemian Original
I got 10 of these in a sample pack. It is the Ginsburg size (6x50) with an unfinished foot and the "rat tail" type top. This is a Dominican blend with a maduro wrapper.
My initial impression is that these were either improperly stored or pooly contructed. They appeared to be a cross between a box press and traditional shape (not round or square) and they were all a bit different. Additionally the wrapper color was inconsistent from stick to stick.
I have only smoked one so far but here is my review of the first (I will update after I smoke a few more).
Pre-Light Aroma pleasant mild tobacco aroma, nothing exciting.
Draw Smooth to easy draw. No problems.
Flavor Mild to medium tobacco flavor with woody or grassy undertones. Not as rich as I would have expected from a maduro wrapper. A bit weak.
Burn Uneven with a flaky ash.
Over-all Impression Unless the others improve I would probably not buy more. 81
I have a different experience
After reading these reviews I dug into my humidor to find the sampler that a friend of mine gave me of Victor Sinclair Bohemian cigars. What I had were:
· Bohemian Black Oscuro in the Big Sur 6/70
· Bohemian Red Corojo in the Greenwich Village 6/60
· Bohemian Brazilian Maduro in the North Beach 5/50
· Bohemian Bamboo in the Whitman 4/48
I decided to smoke one a day for the last four days and see what I thought of them. All of the cigars tested smoked very evenly, except the Bamboo, which trailed a little. They had a medium draw. I personally really like the exteriors of these cigars. They show off the natural beauty of the tobacco leaf, and the Corojo was just amazing in color (and taste). My preference for the cigars is as follows:
1. Red
2. Black
3. Brazilian
4. Bamboo
I must say the Corojo was a much fuller bodied smoke than I had expected, might be one of my favorites and it is very affordable. It was about strong medium. The Oscuro was milder rating in at a cool medium body smoke. The Bamboo was mild and really not my taste nor my size cigar.
Now for the Brazilian Maduro, I had none of the misfortunes that others experienced. It was a slightly above average maduro that burned even and clean with a nice medium body. I do admit that it was a little lighter in body than I prefer from a maduro. I have seen them in the cigar stores, and when in their actual box they are presented great with the same tobacco leaf surrounding them on all sides. I think that maybe jaewing got cigars that had not been properly taken care of? That is unfortunate in itself.
As far as size goes, I am not as concerned as chrisboy. Even the 70 ring is fine for me. I am 6'10" tall and 320 pounds and I am very aware of what team I am playing for, and so does my new wife. As I was once told by my Latino Spanish teacher in high school, who I thought was the hottest thing walking, real men need to be confident in themselves and not concerned about what other think about their sexuality. That being said, I am going out tomorrow and buying another Bohemian Black Oscuro in the Big Sur 6/70 for my wife's girlfriend. She is a cigar smoking Angelina Jolie look alike. That should be interesting! I will try and get a picture for everyone to make your own decision.
