Anyone find themselves collecting more than smoking?

I have found myself to be in a rut right now. I have purchases mass quantities, traded alot recently and have hardly smoked anything lately. Partially because I am busy but it seems I enjoy seeing my beautiful cigars sitting peacefully in my humidor as if I am checking in on a baby ever so quietly to not awake them.

Between trades, gifts, and purchases I have aquired many GREAT cigars which I am itching to try but fear loving it and not finding more. I thnk I am possibly OCD with it too. I cannot stand to see a single cigar. I MUST have pairs at the least. The ones that do not have pairs get smoked first. Unless it is something rare that I cannot find easily locally.

I have found I tell myself that I am "aging" them but in reality it seems as if I have grown attached to my collection and do not want to disturb the beauty.

Help me out fellas. What can I do to break this viscous cycle?:smiley18:

I really need to have a Tampa area HERF or something of the like. I am still a newb to all of this so don't get me wrong. In the last few months I just went nuts buying a bigger humi(150 stick to go along with my 20 and 40 stick models) and they are all full now. My pallate is still growing and I am enjoying all that I learn but something is not right!


Thanks for listening. I just went through my humidors and tupperdors tonight and found I was saddened again that I only grabbed a cheap "yard gar" to smoke vs something that I knew I would truly enjoy.

I don't have that problem, but it sounds really nice. At the end of the day I just enjoying smoking great cigars. What are some of your favorites in your collection?

I'm just getting home from vacation and today spent another $400 US on smokes in Buffalo. I'm looking forward to putting them to sleep in one of the humis, or in the coolidor, of maybe one of the tupperdors.

I have an easy fix. Just send everyone in the forum a few cigars each. That way you wont be so worried all the time.:smiley20:

Guado, I have been feeling the same way myself. I still keep buying cigars and I don't seem to have the time to smoke them at the pace they seem to be accumalating. However, I am sure they will get better and better and better with age. I am guessing that sometime around next year at this time, I will have some pretty tasty treats to dive into.

I envy your problem. I smoke faster than I accumulate lately. Oh well, I got two interviews on Tuesday!

I find that I am buying 30 - 40 cigars a month but only smoking 10 - 15, just invested in an Igloo cube cooler so I now have a lot more room beside the 2 fifty count humidors that I use for my general rotation.

I often find myself thinking "I'll save that one for a special occasion", but I try to smoke a good (premium) cigar once a week just to keep my palate active.

Anyway, at least I will have a very nice collection for when I retire (probably another 30 years) and acquire the time to enjoy them.

Changing the subject a bit, what type of cigar do you consider a good premium cigar? Because for me, a good cigar would be one that is found at my local cigar shop, buy one that I can afford to buy a box of, like a nice Romeo y Julieta, Cuesta Rey, AVO, Arturo Fuentes, etc...and I wouldn't want to be smoking anything less than one of these. A premium smoke would be something like a nice Liberty (2004 was AMAZING, 05 was ok, 06 better), or a limited edition CAO.

Anyways, curious as to what everyone else's standards of smoking are.
