salt test and beads
i'm doing a salt test on my hygrometer right now. its been in the bag with the salt/water mixture for 3 hours now and it already reads 75%. now my question is, i just put 65% beads in my cooler last week and the hygrometer has been reading 69-70% humitity. do i need more beads or do i need to wait till the end of the 8 hours for the test to be completed before i make any changes. btw, my cooler is a 16 quart and i am using 2 onces of beads. by my calculations that is more than enough for this size. what do you think is up?

i waited a full 24 hours when i tested my hygrometer. i would recommend it.

I reckon that it will take some time for eveything to equalise. Rememeber that the cigars have settled at some otyher humidity level in the past and it willl take time for this to be released and stabilized by the beads.

the hygrometer has been doing the salt test for over 12 hours and it is reading dead on at 75%.

I wouldn't expect the beads to be dialed in at 65% without any fluctuation. Don't forget temperature plays a roll in this.

i have 70% beads and ill get readings from 64%-72%....like stated, the weather plays a BIG role in what your beads do

i checked the cigars yesterday and they are reading 67%, i think i can be happy with that. thanks for the help.
