Best game of the year. Those Broncos showed what it means to leave it on the field.

I don't think this game means we need a playoff at all. Boise State doesn't play ANY teams that matter. If they had to play an ACC schedule, they'd be lucky if they would finish 7-4. If they played an SEC schedule, they wouldn't even qualify for a bowl.:smiley36:
outstanding bowl game, that's one i'll remember for awhile
Oklahoma is not an SEC team and I'm talking about their SCHEDULE for an ENTIRE SEASON.
This game was more a matter of Oklahoma LOSING it rather than Boise State winning it and if you think about it, it really was a tie. I think this recent rule change regarding overtime in College football is ridiculous.
What?
I've thought about it, and it wasn't a tie. Both teams knew the rules of overtime coming in so it wasn't as if one team had an unfair advantage.
And I like this overtime system a LOT better than the "first to score wins" method of OT they have in the NFL.
I thought the point of your post was "if you think about it really was a tie. I think this recent rule change regarding overtime in College football is ridiculous.". I didn't realize the point of your post was "the tiebreaker system in college football is very new." I guess I need to reread it so I will be able to "figure it out.:smiley2: "
Also, a quick google search brought up that the overtime system was introduced for D1 in 1996, which, in my opinion, is not really that recent. (Note: this is just my opinion) I didn't research the rule change thoroughly so I might be wrong as to when it was enacted.

Some people were saying that boise state deserved to play in the national title game... Imagine boise state vs the buckeyes... Now, I'm no fan of buckeyes, but I know a good team when I see one. Okies are one thing but they aren't playing at the level to make an exciting bowl game with a top 15 team.:smiley24:
Boise played well and beat Oklahoma, it happens some teams come better prepared. But there is an extent when your teams athletic ability will not match up to anothers. I think Oklahoma belongs in the Big Ten not the Big 12. They are a Big Ten type school.
Sorry to boise state fans...
Sorry for the confusion hefty, but to me 1996 might has well have been yesterday since I graduated high school in the 1970s.:smiley36:
I have been watching college football since the 1960s so to me it is "new" so once again, sorry for the confusion...:smiley9:
I graduated high school in 1997. :smiley36:
You remember the Choke at Doak Bill? That was probably one of the most memorable ties that I can remember (I was at that game)
