Coolidor Project

I went out today & bought one of those 100 qt. green/tan sportsman coolers from igloo for $45. I stopped by hobby lobby (a local craft store) and got some "wet" oasis, then thought...why do this half assed ? Im going to order some beads & spanish cedar, line the cooler with the cedar, lay in the beads, add my Caiber lll, let it adjust and forget about it.
Something I was thinking about was, how well these coolers seal ? I did look for one that closed well, but these are plastic and not precision made. Has anyone experianced any sealing issues with coolers ?

They seal really tight. Do not worry about that at all. I have considered putting some spanish cedar in mine too. You don't get the same aroma from a coolidor as you do a cedar humidor.

The lid may feel like it shuts very tight, but a tight feeling closure doesn't mean an airtight seal.My coolerdour lid feels very tight, but if I put my mouth to the drain and blow or inhale there is very little resistance. Never had a problem with RH though. I would consider some kind of strip sealer tape if maintaining RH were a problem. Did you try coolerdour in the search feature? Theres plenty of info and suggestions in other threads.
