Mystery Cigar Review- Thanks, Sarge...
Sarge hit me with this little unbanded mystery cigar in return for my review. I sparked it up a while ago while grilling. I have to admit that I am confused by this smoke…
It was PC in the size range with a green tingd, dirt brown colored wrapper. About the closest resemblance I can compare it to would be to a Bolivar wrapper. Not sure if I have really seen this exact shade before. It appeared to have a double cap and the construction was solid. This was not the prettiest cigar with the veins being quite noticeable and wrapper texture being a bit inconsistent.
The pre-light aroma was very neutral and lightly earthy. The ash was a medium gray in color with the draw being nearly perfect. Burn wise, this got ahead of itself a couple of times, but corrected nicely without any touch-up.
I doubt this is a Bolivar because the flavor seemed nowhere near as strong. Assuming this was a Habano, I would place it at medium in strength. If NC, then I would slate it as Mild-Med. The flavor was excellent. Very smooth throughout with a slight nuttiness. Flavor wise, I would give this a pretty high score (somewhere between 87 and 90 out of 100).
The cigar seemed to burn somewhat fast, so I have some doubts about it being completely constructed of long-filler. However, the bunching patterns on the ends of the cigar would indicate that it is indeed all long filled. Maybe a sandwich?
I really enjoyed the cigar, Ken. Thanks! My guess is that this was an ISOM and something I have yet to try like a La Flor de Cano? Please do tell…
