Seasoning Humidor. Do I have to soak?

many sources suggest taking a sponge and soakin the interior of a new humidor, but i have heard from a few other sources that this is can be a bad idea and may cause the wood the split.

the solution they suggest is to leave a saucer of distilled water in with the humidifier and let the wood naturally take in moisture. i know this may take longer and i am in no real hurry to get this done, but how do i know when my humidor is fully seasoned?

im guessing just check the hygrometer, but i am expecting humidor beads, so in theory wouldn't putting the beads in with a hygrometer in any container show my desired rh level?

Hi,
I went over my new new humidor with distilled water-it does not seem to have done it any harm.
At the end of the day it's up to you.
