Hello folks from Visalia California. Im a cigar rookie taking some baby steps to get a collection started. I was going to try a newbie sampler on that thread but I got impatient and bought some stuff from cigars international. Id like some opinions if this purchase was worth the money I paid:

Those purchases look like a great way to start, lots of great everyday cigars in there.
That humidor will QUICKLY become over crowded, I would start looking at large coolers, and search here for turning them into Coolidors. This can be a VERY consuming hobby:smiley41:
The Newbie Sampler is a GREAT way to get a variety of "ready-to-smoke" cigars from some people who really know their stuff. but be prepared to create a very long list of boxes to purchase:smiley22:

Looks like a nice haul. I love the Indian Tobac Maduro, good flavored cigar.
An even better start was joining this board though! You are gona learn a lot, as i have in the short time I've been here. There are a lot of welcoming people with a lot of knowledge and experience behind them.

I think the samplers are a perfect way to start. They usually average out to be a good price per stick and even if some are less than good quality that's all part of the learning process.
Plus, everyone needs to decide for himself what he likes although some members on this board can certainly point you in the right direction.

That sampler actually looks pretty good. The Fonseca 5-50's are the perfect morning smoke with a cup of dark coffee. I love them. You'll enjoy the Perdomo La Reserva...whichever one comes with the sampler. Good start.
...I second the coolidor option. I totaled 4 desktop humidors before I got smart and invested in a good size cooler. No regrets.
Welcome to the board. You didn't get hurt on the samplers, imo........but do try the newbie sampler if you can.

I think my first purchase was that CI sampler with the small desktop humi. I now have a bunch of the CT Cameroon and the IT Super Fuerte Maduros. Variety is your best friend right now so samplers are the way to go.
I eventually did a newbie sampler and by now I have an overflowing cooler.

I did the newb sampler back in Nov, and I have about 1/2 of it left still. And I already have found at least 1 new smoke that I liked so much I went out bought a box the day I smoked it.
It was the 5 Vegas Cask Strenght. Man that was an awesome cigar and I got a hell of a deal on cbid.
There are a bunch that I eventually want to get a box of as well, just as soon as I stop using Cbid for a bit.
Welcome from VA. Samplers are always good to start off with, but in the long run it's bad, because you end up spending all your money buying boxes of each cigar. The samplers, bombs, trades, gifts, etc these mofos give in this forum, I practically have new favorites every time. Good luck with your journey. It's always fun to go into a local B&M and see what new cigars they have for you to try. It's like a kid in a candy store.....you want to try everything!

Thanks for the feedback fellas. My untrained palate happens to enjoy the La Finca cigars for the price, so I also purchased a 48ct lot of Valentinos packed into its own humidor. This will not only give me another humi which from your replies I believe Ill be needing soon, but also a good lot of economy cigars that I happen to like.
Welcome to the board from the tip of Mississippi. Good selection of smokes. You'll be surprised at how fast that humidor will fill up. They are a lot smaller than you think. Go ahead and get a cooler and thank us later. Also give the Newbie Sampler II a try. You'll be more than satisfied with the variety you'll get from it.
Yet another person saying go ahead and get a cooler. I was like you not that long ago, just getting a few samplers here and there and seeing how I liked them, once you know what you like, which it sounds like you already do, you can make a box/bundle purchase, it just makes perfect sense.
Do not pass up the Newbie Sampler, you will love yourself later for it.
You are off to a great start, and before you know it, there will be stories of how large your collection has gotten.
