Well, you should have asked Dennis for his input because it is the same thing I sent him for Puro Pot Pass II.

I don't remember ever seeing Columbia on a map... is it near Venezwala? :smiley36: Sorry, I couldn't help it...
So, I will send Mark his sigtag - but if anyone else made one that is better I will not be offended if we replace the one I made. All I did was find a picture of Mark on Flickr... so it isn't anything special really....

Well, I did open the door.
Irish79, are you ready? I can't get to the PO today, I can get there tomorrow.
I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Ship away Mark.
DC# 0309 3220 0001 2411 1621
Good luck!
I'm looking forward to it. :smiley20:
At least the DC# is already showing up online, unlike last time.
The pass arrived and everything looks fine. I'll smoke the puro in a few days.
Hey guys, I know I'm up next and wanted to give everyone a heads up that I won't be able to smoke the cigar if it gets here next week. I'll be out for some training so I don't know how much access I'll have to the internet.
Can't wait to get hte package and smoke when I get back, I'll need one.
Do you want me to hold the pass until you're back in town? Or will someone be around to pick up the mail and throw it in your cooler? I'd hate for the cigars to roast in the heat.
I was just sending a pm to get your address. I smoked the puro last night, but left my notes at home, so I'll be posting my guess and puts tomorrow and then I'll be ready to send it onward.
So, I had the chance to smoke the puro last night. Here is my first attempt at a review of any kind.
Size: 6x52 W
Wrapper: Colorado Maduro
Beverage: Water
Tunes: GN'R Pandora station
Initial Inspection:
Nice tobacco smell. Good construction with a slight tear in the wrapper, probably courtesy of the USPS... :) At this point I ruled out Cuban due to the construction of the triple cap.
Cut & Light:
The cap cut easily and popped off like a top hat. Draw is perfect for me, as I like it on the easier side of things. Lighting the puro produced a good amount of smoke, which is something else I like. This cigar is starting to make me smile.
1st Third:
My first draw or two seemed to produce some nice spice, which disappeared immediately. This was both puzzling and disappointing. I ruled out Nicaraguan at this point. At about the inch mark, 1/4 of the mottled gray ash crumbled away lengthwise, leaving me with a goofy looking ash. The remainder fell off at the 1.5" mark. I was focused on the ash because the puro didn't seem to give me much. Nothing too exciting going on.
2nd Third:
More of the same. Dare I say almost boring? Maybe I'm not relaxed enough, anticipating my failure of this "test".
3rd Third:
Seems to be a medium stick. Burn has been even the entire time and a nice volume of smoke. Detecting some earthy & woodsy elements now along with a bit more bite.
Verdict & Guess:
Good construction with an even burn and the sort of draw and volume of smoke that I enjoy. The stick just didn't seem to tickle my taste buds, though, like Nelson, so I'm going to guess HONDURAN.
Bring it on Mark. I'm sure you have something "good" for me...:smiley17:
Nelson tickles your taste buds?
You are correct, sir! The cigar was a Punch Gran Puro. Nicely done.
Give me a day or so to get your sig tag to you. I kind of wasn't expecting so many winners this year. This is either due to poor planning on my part, or the level of tasting skill ya'll have developed over time. I tend to believe it's the latter.
I'll also PM you LawDog2006's addy.
Again, congrats.
Nice Dan - didn't you win last year too?
[goes and uses the search function]
Well, you sorta won last year, this time it's official though. :smiley17:

Nice job Irish! Guess the pot won't be that big when it gets here!
Hmm, yeah, I misspoke there. Thanks for letting in on this thing late and giving me an opportunity to win on my own this year. :smiley20: I'll be looking forward to the next edition. Bring on my nice new sig tag.
I hope you're ready LawDog2006, because I have a nice stick for you to review.
Sig tag sent - I found another deserving sig tag (IMHO).
Congrats again, Dan.
Here's my new sig tag. Great job, Mark.
My puts:
RP Summer 2009
RASS (Mar 08)
Padron 4000 Maduro
I have LawDog2006's addy, so I'll get these boxed up and I plan on shipping Thursday, so they should arrive by next Monday.
Outbound today. DC# 0304 0370 0000 3961 6622
Good luck, Erik!
Alright, I just got the package in the mail and everything looks good. I appreciate your patience with my schedule, off last week at training and this week is packed with appointments and events. I'll let it sit in the humi for a day or so and intend to smoke it Wednesday.
Size – Looks like a lancero, didn’t think to measure it before I started smoking
Drink – Water
First impressions – yellowish brown wrapper leads me to think it’s a either a natural or Colorado. There’s a bit of wrapper loss near the tip but nothing that effects smoking
Ash fell off at about 1” in a nice clump, the draw is quite loose and it’s producing a moderate amount of smoke. Nothing is really jumping out at me except the neutral-ness of it. There’s no peppery flavor like I’d expect out of a Nicaraguan. About 2” in I’m starting to experience some woodsy hints.
I’m about ½ way through it and the amount of smoke being produced has definitely increased. There seems to be a bit of nuttiness taking the place of the wood. (insert phallic joke here). I think I’ve narrowed it down to either Dominican or Honduran.
Ok, I’m just about finished so my guess is…. Dominican!
And LawDog2006 joins the growing list of lewzer's :smiley36:
Ya know, once I can get my humidor a little better stocked, and the palate a little better trained, this is one I'd like to get in on. Don't care if I win...I just want some new smokes and one of those cool sigs.
So if these keep up, at some point, I'm getting one of those righteous Lewzer sigs! :smiley2:
:smiley18:Peruvian???!!!! WTF - I thought they just had good coffee! Well bring on the sig tag!
Let me proffer my puts for approval before I send them
Cusano 59
Nestor Miranda 1989
ManOWar
Tough break. I'm amped to give this a try now. All I need now Is someone who thinks they have a skilled enough pallate to guess my puro.....bring it on!!
The door is SO wide open, one doesn't get this opportunity too often. It will take me a bit of time....
Stick around; there's always next year. Probably try to get started in early January next year due to the number of participants; we're pretty far into summer down where I live.
I don't know if anyone else is going to sign up. It might end with you. Refer to the first post for rules and other info. Let me know if you have any questions. Are you ready to receive the pass?
Ready, willing and able. Allready pm'd lawdog with my addy. Lets do this!
Well, good news and bad news.
I made a sig tag. But in the interest of taste, I've decided to replace it with something equally tasteless, but perhaps a bit more forum-friendly. Sig tag has been sent.
Looks like Tdre977 is all ready to go - LawDog2006, post the DC# once you send it off.
Anyone else interested in this contest? Read the first post in this thread, then PM me.
LawDog2006, thanks for posting your puts. When you get the chance, could you post the vitola of each cigar as well?
Damn Mark! Considering some of the others, how bad could it be?!
Ok, I'm good with my sig tag!
Here are the puts
Cusano 59 - Churchill
Nestor Miranda 1989 - Toro
ManOWar - Toro (looks like an extra thick gauge though)
