At least the Cubs have made it past the NLCS before, may have been a while, but at least they've done it, besides, they'll at least prevent the Astros from making it to the playoffs. 'Stros are going :smiley21:

I'll say one thing for you Cubby fans, you're die hard! Cubs have lost a series to CINCINNATI, not to mention they've been Philadelphia's whipping post! But as the immoral..I mean immortal Jesse Jackson would say, "keep hope alive!" :smiley36:Quote:

I say the Astros will finish ahead of the Cubs this year. You name the # & level of cigars. :smiley2:
Houston is starting a THIRTEEN GAME HOME STAND on Tuesday including three with your Cubbies next week. Do you know who has the best HOME record in the majors this year? :smiley3: Houston also has nine MORE home games left than the Cardinals. My guess is that Houston will be five out by the end of the month and breathing down the Cardinals back come the end of September while you guys will be fighting with Milwaukee for DISTANT third (so far Milwaukee is winning this battle :smiley17: ). Houston's last three games of the season are HOME against.........hmmmmmmm lemme see............THE CUBS :smiley36:
Brandon Backe comes off the DL on August 9th so WATCH OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How long is the current Cubs losing streak? :smiley36:Did you guys just get SWEPT by the freakin' METS? Last I knew, they were in LAST place in the NL East. :smiley3:
OH and I see you have four games with the Cardinals at the end of this week after you get done losing to Cincinnati. Please do us a favor and try and win a few of those, huh? :smiley36:
I would say that if any team is going to knock someone out of the Wild Card, it will be Philadelphia. Houston is in the driver's seat to make the post season so long as they don't collapse and ever since May 24th (my birthday) they've had the best record in the majors including the White Sox and the Cardinals.
Cubs losing streak now at EIGHT :smiley3:
Houston won AGAIN tonight and the useless Brewers lost AGAIN to St Louis.
The Marlins are making me nervous :smiley22:
And they won AGAIN tonight! :smiley14:
And AGAIN on August 12th. :smiley20:
THANKFULLY the Cubbies just beat the Cardinals for the second day in a row :smiley20: :smiley20:
Florida lost but Washington and Philadelphia won.
I'm STILL most concerned about Philadelphia in this Wild Card Race. :smiley3:
CC, I never said the cubs were good, I'm just gonna root for them! And like I've written before, at least they've one more than one playoff series in there clubs history :smiley20:
BTW, how's your cat doing, the shop treating her nice and fixing her up quickly, George told me yesterday, sucks to hear :smiley6: Seems like there's an accident fever going around cigarsmokers, and it's the cigar smokers getting hit, not doing the hitting :smiley26:
LOL!! I've been a SERIOUS Cubs fan for the last couple of days!!! KICK SOME CARDINAL BUTT, Yeah BABY!!!!!! :smiley20: :smiley20: :smiley20:Quote:

They're supposed to start working on the car tomorrow. I think they'll be able to fix it. What pisses me off is that I lost out on attending some car shows in the meantime. I just got back from one today and everyone was wondering why I didn't enter. NOW, I'll have to go to a show in Richmond to get my third one in for the season. A good excuse to finally meet Leebo, the site owner of CigarSnobs :smiley20: That's the third week in September so I hope the car will be ready by then, it should be but we'll see......
The Astros just singed rookie Michael Gruman to a five year contract estimated at five dollars or a box of grape White Owls which ever is less.
The Astros owner states Gruman, also known as PB, should fill a large hole in the infield.
More sports news at Six O Clock.

Holy shit did you see Houston WHOMP Cheecago last night???/
GO ASTROS!!!
What's that Greg Maddux? Astros smell like a cow pie?
I agree, they sure do!
Im a die hard stros fan and well this last game we lost was due to yet again people not being able to HIT consistently..........We have a solid pitching line up but thats useless if you cant put runs on the board! :smiley21:
hopefully tomorrow oswalt will get us another win, and the bats will be aswinging!
Not to be a whiner but there were two different strike zones last night, a very LARGE one for Mr. Maddux and a very small one for Andy Pettitte.
That still doesn't excuse the fact that the Astros need to score more runs......
Pettitte also made some BAD pitches at the worst times which is out of the ordinary for him.
:smiley4: :smiley4: :smiley4: :smiley4: :smiley4: :smiley4: :smiley4: :smiley4: :smiley4: :smiley4: :smiley4:
Hmmmm, what was that song by Simon & Garfunkel, that's right, "The Sound of Silence", somebody start the trumpet up, it's time for "Taps"!
Let us gather here today to say goodbye to the Houston Astros for 2005.
They made a nice mini-run, but now have dropped to second in the wild card race, allowing about five teams to get within two or so games.
Hey, 2006 is just around the corner!
Moo
LMAO!! Houston has the inside track in the Wild Card race, all the NL East teams have to play EACH other from here on out and beat each other up and all we have to do is play the LOSER teams in the NL Central. The Astros should win the Wild Card.
You Cardinals fans catch the final score in the 13 inning game tonight? If you did please post it, I'm going to bed and it's the top of the 13th and the Cardinals just went up by one.
How are those Cubs doing? :smiley36: :smiley36: :smiley36: :smiley36:Quote:

YEAH BABY
You're right superman, that is a BIG problem. :smiley19: I still think they can get to the playoffs BUT their lack of run scoring probably won't get them past Atlanta and certainlly not past the Cardinals.Quote:

If they kept records on how many times one pitcher can blow saves in a game ALL BY HIMSELF, the Cardinals would have set it tonight. :smiley36: Did Tavarez punch a water cooler again? :smiley36:
I'm a poor soul in Connecticut who cannot watch Astros games..................... :smiley36:

Oh I see Houston isn't the Wild Card leader in the NL, okay ya got me but HOW BOUT THOSE YANKEES!!!!!!!!!

Where are those Cardinals fans? I STILL haven'tbeen able to find the score from last nights game and was SURE that some Cardinals fan would tell me how badly Houston lost on Friday night.........
It was 6-5 Houston, CC. Isringhausen gave up two HRs, and had given up only two all year.
Won't happen tonight. Carpenter will beat Rocket for the SECOND time this year head-to-head.
Moo
LMAO!!! The Astros have beaten Philadelphia what, TEN times in a row now? My former favorite Astro, Billy Wagner was tonight's losing pitcher.
Back in the Wild Card lead as of September 5th :smiley20: :smiley20: :smiley20:
The three NL East teams have a BIG problem in that they all have to pretty much play each other while the Astros have games left with Pittsburgh (4), Milwaukee (6) and Chicago (6). Okay we have three with Florida but those games are in Houston and the Astros are tough at home and two at St. Louis which will be tough.
I'll take the Astros' September schedule over Florida's, Philadelphia's, Washington's and New York's ANYDAY :smiley20:
Well my fine feline friend the yanks ARE leading the wild card, but we don't want to settle for a measely wild card.We shall see here shortly, got the sox for four games i believe.Oh yeah please score a run for the rocket :smiley36:Quote:

Top of the ninth with Billy Wagner on the mound (oneof the BEST relievers in baseball) he gets two quick outs and Vizcaino hits a grounder to third, NO WAIT booted by Bell, safe at first!! Then Willy Taveras JUST beats the throw to first on an infield single!!. Next up Craig Biggio, two outs runners on first and second.
BANG!!
Good bye, three run homer, Astros win 8-6.
The Astros SWEPT the season series from the Phillies 6-0 this year and did the same thing to them last year. :smiley36: :smiley36: :smiley36:
And to think, I ALMOST drove down to Philadelphia for the game tonight........ :smiley6:
Ya got 'em for three BUT your last three games of the season are in Fenway Park and your four before that are AT Baltimore. The schedule favors the Red Sox :smiley2:Quote:

Oswalt and Clemens are scheduled to pitch games 3 & 4 of the series so we've got to win the BOTH of them or things are going to be very stressful from here on out......
Our star rookie center fielder Willy Taveras had a ball hit off of his finger and he had to get five stitches on it so he's out for a few days and Morgan Ensberg has been out for seven games so far and who knows when he'll return. Things aren't looking so good.......
BACK IN THE WILD CARD LEAD !!! :smiley20: :smiley20: :smiley20: :smiley20: :smiley20:
Split the series with Florida so it was a wash. :smiley20:
AND even with the injury laden roster, the Astros managed to score a whole lotta runs in the last two games with Florida. A very pleasant surprise. :smiley20: :smiley20: :smiley20:
JEFF BAGWELL IS BACK!!!
Pinch hit single in the bottom of the 9th wins it for the Astros!!!
YEEEEEEEEEEEEHA!!!! Still in the Wild Card lead!!!! :smiley20: :smiley20: :smiley20:
Well, after dropping the first game out of four to the lowly Pittsburg Pirates, the Astros took the last three of the series and STILL have a two game lead in the Wild Card. :smiley20: :smiley20:
BUT we're on the road for three against the Cubs which play Houston very well AND we have to go to St. Louis for two. Then it's back to Houston for four more with the Cubs.
Fortunately it appears Florida and Washington are pretty much out of it and Philadelphia has six of their nine remaining games on the road against Cincinnati and Washington, and three at home against the Mets.
I don't think they'll win six of their last nine BUT I do think Houston will win five of their last nine so that means the Astros SHOULD win the Wild Card. :smiley20:
