Yesterday I had one of dem Montecristo Fer de Lance (Peruvian Maduro's)... Very nice!!!!
Last night, an Opus X of the Fuente Fuente size that had so many damn burn problems that it was not worth the trouble. Odd enough because it has been at a steady 68% for a month. I smoked an inch and a half, and put it out. It's a crying shame for how much I payed for it. $18 in washington state. Tasted pretty good after the flame got out of the jet charring.
What a great smoke . Started off spicy , then mellowed out for a long enjoyable smoke . Nice even burn , beautiful construction and pleasantly strong aroma . :smiley37:
See my review
I've not had an Opus that wasn't great after a year in the humi... Now the ones I get from the cigar store and smoke within a month or two of purchase - a different story alltogether... It's been hit or miss...Quote:

Had one of the new bolivars - to me it tasted just like a Cuba Aliados Cazador maduro. Same construction also.
Hope the rest of you have better luck with them.
ilis there any specific reason that Opus Xs behave this way? I know they are great leaf, but why all of the problems "out of the box"?Quote:

I havnt smoked in about a week or so :smiley22:
They're also VERY oily, which can lead to some burn problems....
I'm in your boat, TSC... I've been sick all week... :smiley6:
Last night I had a Montecristo No4, getting better all the time but I am half way through the box. By the time they are perfect....they'll be gone!! :smiley22:
Night before I had one of those Honduran sun grown churchills from MD Cigars, cheap and cheerful, can't complain for the money :smiley20:

Once it was lit completely, very nice cigar. Lots of smoke.
Hoyo De Montterey Petite Robusto
Exodus 1959
Rocky Patel vintage 1990 robusto
Questionable construction, uneven burn, tastey smoke & lots of it.
Padron 1964 Diplomatico. Little long for my liking, but overall it was a tasty/enjoyable cigar.
RP vintage 1990 torpedo
Ohhh man...I tried my first ISOM tonight...an Upmann Mag 46 (THANKS sarge) to celebrate Halloween with some Courvoisier XO.
Great taste, good construction, even burn....smoked it down to the nub. Great introduction to the ISOM world!!! :smiley20: :smiley20:
Tried the Excalibur Prensado I got from CC's maduro sampler and was not disappointed. Great cigar very smooth. Trouble was I'm sick and my throat hurt from all the drainage I have, but 3 weeks without one was just too long so I had to give in. Anyway great smoke thanks CC.
Glad you liked it Joe in spite of feelin' lousy. I'd bet you'll like them even more once you're feeling better. As I've mentioned, they're one of my favorite medium priced domestics.
October 31st:
Quintero Brevas
La Aurora Preferidos maduro (the one in the RED tube)
Jose Piedra Cazadores
A glass of Benjamin Austrailia Tawny Port with the Jose Piedra. I bought a bottle of Osborne Sherry (based on a recommendation in European Cigar Cult Journal) but I guess I just have to warm up to Sherry. At this point, I prefer Port over Sherry.
El Rey Del Mundo :smiley20:
5 Vegas Gold robusto. Not a bad little smoke for something mild (I'm still getting over being sick, thought something stronger might gag me :smiley26: )

You guys will laugh at this. I am smoking the 1997 boom cigar "Fighting Cock" in celebration of our win over UT. Not the new version, but an aged box from about 1999. Still sucks, but at least they are aged. :smiley29:
Finally got a chance to smoke one of the Reo's, quiet good. Very loose draw though.
Ewwwwww.... Wash your mouth out with soap to get rid of the taste.... :smiley11:Quote:
