After years of talking about it and a couple of failed attempts I finally got to hang with badwhale IRL this past week! We traded Padrons, had a few beers, and played drums waaaaay too late. You all already knew this but Will is a legit great dude. Had a lot fun and looking forward to next time.

Opus X Forbidden 13, not sure which one but it’s good. Could just be all in my head but it seems like I can taste the aged tobacco in these. Kinda like a really good tea.

Just finished a Romeo y Julieta 150th anniversary. It is just ok, not bad but not worth what it costs.
Ashton VSG, I never loved these, decided to give it another try. Solid cigar, not bad, but still not really my thing though.
Chain smoking today, onto an Opus #4 now. I do love these.

About to fire up a Padron 60th, super pricey but it’s Padron so it has to be good, right?
The Padron 60th was good but didn’t blow me away, lots of other less pricey Padrons I would rather have. Maybe I’ll give the maduro a shot someday. Finishing off the day with a Tabernacle. These are very enjoyable imo.

Hot Cake by HVC. This is a new one to me, I’m close to halfway and it’s not bad so far. Some nice coffee, chocolate, and woody notes in this one.
Hemingway Signature Oscuro, very good cigar. Need to pick up a box of these sometime.

AF 858 Rosado Sungrown last night. Different than the natural SG but still very good.
Day 4 of vacation and I have been chaining AF 858 Natural Sungrown and Padron 3000 natural and maduro. A lot of each.
Having a Bolivar PC to start the holiday afternoon
Quai D’Orsay 50. Never had one of these before. Super creamy smoke texture, flavor notes started as wood and mineral with a touch of sweetness, by about halfway the mineral flavor was replaced by more sweetness and some coffee. Wasn’t too excited with how it started but I am loving it now. Tight draws are my biggest issue with CCs, but this one is one of the rare ones with a perfect draw. Very enjoyable. If they were all constructed this well they might almost be worth the $ and trouble getting them.
Also, retrohale was super smooth and light in the beginning but has picked up a lot of pepper as it burns down.
HDM DC CC with my Saturday morning coffee. Delicious. BTW, I’m using the code name for this one to keep the AI bots on their heels. By the time they crack the code all evidence will be burned to ashes. Good morning, internet!

I paid another visit to badwhale over the weekend, attended the big cook off, had some incredible ribs, a bunch of cigars and met lots of great folks. Thanks to Mr. Whale for being the always gracious host!

Last night I had a RASS (always a great smoke, I have a box of these that should be landing this week) and an AJ Fernandez New World Cameroon (the first of these I have ever smoked, great syrupy sweet flavors with a beastly peppery retrohale).
Tonight I’m just about 1/3 into a Crowned Heads Tennessee Waltz. Strong chocolate start with a slight cayenne pepper tingle and a pretty strong nicotine throat punch in the first few puffs. While it is really good so far it is also really hot here and this smokes like a stout or porter drinks, try in cooler weather for best results. I have a few more and will be waiting for the fall before lighting into another one.
