Go Hawks!
Go! Go! BLACK AND GOLD!:smiley20:

Here're the lyrics from "Time to Go" by the Dropkick Murphys:
Go! Go! Black and gold!
Old-time hockey, bar the door
Clear the track it's all-out war
Light the lamp, throw a hit
Black and gold never quit
The barn is full, our team's in town
So put 'em up boys, knock 'em out (knock 'em down)
Drop the puck, it's time to go (time to go)
Bust outta work, it's quarter-past five
Time to round up the gang
and take the Red to the Orange line
Head for the street and the Causeway crowd
You can feel it in the air, when the team's in town
[Chorus]
Rancourt's ready, it's time to take to the ice
So tie down the jersey 'cause it could get ugly tonight
Top corner, five hole, off the post and in
On a quest for the cup, and we're ready to win
[Chorus]
Go! Go! Black and gold!
Drop the puck, it's time to go
Oh, pipe down there Mr. Rama-Lama-Ding-Dong! :smiley36:
I have to admit the Bruins really did a number on the Penguins (I don't think anyone really saw that coming - a sweep of the series), but I don't think the Bruins are as invincible as it may seem. The Hawks are skating very well right now - and did very well despite having their hands full on the Western Conference side. Detroit was extremely aggressive, and LA was VERY physical as well. Both series showed the absolute Hawks determination to get the job done.
I really think, beyond the "original six" draw this is bound to have, this is going to be a great series with some very incredible, intense hockey. We'll just see how this series plays out, Mr. Spanky-Pants. :smiley2:
Grinella - they have this fairly new invention called "DVR". If you've not heard of it, you should. It's going to absolutely revolutionize TV watching! Imagine, if you will, being able to watch one show while you record another! Absolutely brilliant stuff!!! ...and no more excuses for not watching your favorite programs! :smiley4:
...but I still love you!!! :smiley27:
...and that goofy "Breaking Amish" is just completely lost-touch-with-reality goofy now! It started out very bizarre, but now is really turning into a comedy show of complete goofiness. Jeremiah having to "register" his hands with the government as "dangerous weapons", followed by Jeremiah's bare chested, board breaking display - which was upended when one of the untrained girls broke a board, was absolutely histerical.
Though I have to admit - I'm pretty close to shutting that show down because it is just TOO goofy without any real honest reason to keep going. It's degraded to the point that the ex-Amish, soon to be ex-Amish, and the like are now just all over the place...

QUOTE] Ha HA DVR means more time watching the boob tube with the rest of the boobs. I just can't be stressed over what I have to tape and watch later. but thanks for the heart oxox to you too...
Anybody still watching Breaking Bad? The first episode last Sunday...oh my.
All that we have is Amazon Prime Instant Video, so the selection is limited and usually dated. Watched the first two seasons of Falling Skies and am in the first season of Under the Dome.
Burn Notice
Covert Affairs
Suits
Graceland
All on USA:smiley20:
I also like Person of Interest but it's on the same time as Suits and Suits right now is new while Person of Interest is in rerun. Oh, I forgot, I kinda got hooked on Under the Dome at first but not so much now.:smiley5:
What I like about USA Network is their "seasons" are the traditional network ones, Labor Day to Memorial Day sort of with reruns tossed in, etc. and either all reruns in the summer or they pull the series.
USA traditionally has two short seasons per year, summer when all the big networks are in rerun and some other time in the year, usually starting in February when the networks start sprinkling in reruns.
I mentioned it in the what are you smoking thread - but I was completely engrossed in Jiro Dreams of Sushi documentary. If you can get past having to read the subtitles, this was a fascinating study of a an incredible man. 10 seat non-descript sushi restaurant in the Tokyo subway booked 1-2 months in advance - at $300 per person. And there is no reading off a menu or ordering appetizers - you eat what Jiro prepares for you. He is the only small sushi restaurant that has been awarded 3 Michelin Guide stars.
Seriously - if you want to study the recipe for success, this is the movie. :smiley20:
Netflix has it available, and it appears Walmart has the BlueRay available for $13.11.
Hey sparky! I forgot all about this post...
It's been a while - but how did the "Black and Gold" do in that series? Hmmmmmmm???? Seems to me there was some "drop kick" going on, but I'm quite certain it wasn't the Murphy's. :smiley4:
...or perhaps you just wanna forget! :smiley37:
I first heard about this place through Anthony Bourdains No Reservations and put it on my bucket list. I believe his son has taken over since then. Great documentary for foodies, fans of sushi, and like you mentioned people who can appreciate the lifetime of dedication and passion that man showed.
For TV, I find it hard to follow anything after Breaking Bad. Only two shows I actually follow up on week after week are How I met your Mother and the Mentalist.
The more I see of Karl Urban the more I'm liking him as an actor. Because of this the wife (she feels the same about him) and I checked his new TV series "Almost Human" which started this week. We're both Sci Fi fans so we enjoyed the show a lot and have added it to our PVR list of things to be recorded.
If you too are a Sci Fi fan I highly recommend you give this show a look.
I'm currently hooked on 'American Horror Story' - just finished season 1. I enjoy horror as a genre, but loathe how it gets grouped with gory movies or just cheeseball, cliche plot lines.
ETA: Oh, we're also watching:
Mad Men - middle of S6
Greatest American Hero - middle of S1
Sons of Anarchy - about to start S6
Project Runway (when it's on)
Breaking Bad (though, technically, we haven't watched an episode yet, I've been collecting the seasons, when on sale, in anticipation)
CBGB
Good movie. I'd have to investigate a bit to see how much of it was reality (I won't btw), but a good movie nonetheless. Definitely worth a watch. I bet CC86 would love it.
Okay what was this? A movie about the now closed famous punk rock venue in NYC?
EDIT, never mind, I just googled it. I definitely would enjoy that, I never knew of the existence of this movie, thanks for letting me know, I'll bet I will love it!:smiley20:
I've only been there once, in September of 2006 to see the Dropkick Murphys, about a month before it closed for good. I was glad to have the experience to see a show there, the place was pretty cool.
We went to see Hobbit ~ The Battle of Five Armies today. I really enjoyed it. I was fun bringing the girl (7) with us. They re-did the old Frackville theatre a while ago with a bunch of stadium seating, smaller rooms, and surround sound. We polished off a big tub of popcorn, and didn't get halfway through the two tankers of soda that went with it.
Also, later on, we watched Malificent at home. I enjoyed this too. I liked the revision to the story, but Sleeping Beauty will always be my favorite Disney movie. Without spoiling anything, I was happy to see they kept the same cane rap that the original had for the initial curse.
I guess me and Candy will go see American Sniper
Took my wife to see The Hobbit at X'mas time. We wen to a "VIP" theater and it was rather nice. The seating is all double seats that are kind of like love seats and they come with a small table attached to the arms. You prebook your seat (and pick where to sit in the theater as well) and you can order dinner and drinks and have it all served at your seats. This is an 18 and over, 'adults only' theater....woohooo
We had hamburgers followed by popcorn and Smoothies...........LOL. It was good but the food was overpriced so the next time we go there, we'll eat before or after elsewhere. But it was a nice treat as a one-off.
The movie of course was excellent. I'm trying hard to let go of my angst over them adding stuff that was not in the book so they could make a third movie. My wife says I'm like an old dog worrying a bone but it pisses me off and it's a money grab plain and simple.
The 3D technology has sure advanced since the first, and last, time I checked it out back in the late 70's. Then it just gave me a headache. Now it's really impressive and easy on the eyes.
All told, we'll be going back again.
We bought Malificent, it's another good movie!
I tend to agree with your wife on this one. If they made the hobbit just based on the book, it would have just been one movie, instead of three. In fact, I'm reading the Hobbit at beddtime, and I'm kinda finding it dull compared to the movies. Usually it's the other way around. I think they did a nice job backing into LOTR storyline, and I gather that Tolkien was a big fan of appendices that had more info than the basic book.
On that same note, you took no exception to a major plot change on Malificent?
I've never read the book Malificent so I wasn't aware there was a difference between it and the movie.
As for The Hobbit, I figure it would have made two very good 3 to 3+ hour movies without the extraneous stuff. Sure they tied it into LOTR but really, they had to otherwise the appearance of Legolas would make even less sense.
Again, it's just a pet peeve of mine. You and my wife aren't the only people to tell me they have a differing opinion. My best friend came up to visit for a few days between x'mas and new years and he agrees with you two as well............LOL
Um, have you seen Sleeping Beauty?
Wow, Mrs. Crabtree hasn't had much material lately but she can't let this one go:
"Candy and I"
Dammit!:smiley36:
Helpful hint #106 from Mrs. Crabtree:
Do you say:
A: "Me will go see American Sniper"
or
B: "I will go see American Sniper?"
If you picked A then you watch too much "Tarzan" on the ABC Family Channel.
Back to topic: I'm still watching Person of Interest and The Good Wife (good ole corrupt politics in Chicago and Illinois, LOL!).
As far as sitcoms go, Last Man Standing is by far and away the best one on these days. The writing is incredible and the cast is fantastic. Big Bang Theory is another real good one too. Other than those two, I pretty much have no use for major network sitcoms.:smiley21:
I've watched the first 3 seasons of Last Man Standing on Netflix. I love this show! I even started rewatching it. There hasn't been a show this good since the first 2 seasons of Community and first 3 seasons of Eureka. Loved both those shows, but the later seasons were long in the tooth; especially Community.
Movie wise, I've watched How to Train Your Dragon 2 about six times since November. I just love this movie; the story, the characters, the graphics, and everything about it. It is just a good movie. Hell, now I want to watch it again!
Peaky Blinders on Netflix. Only 4 episodes deep, but I'm loving it.
Archer and Parks and Rec are back! I'm in love with Aubrey Plaza.
I hear you on HTTYD 2
We bought it when it came out and I've watched 3 or 4 times since. Most recently a week or so back we watched 1 and 2 back-to-back.
Watched Gene Wilder and Harrison Ford in The Frisco Kid last night.....it was on one of the movie channels. I hadn't seen it in years. As usual, Gene rocks and it was a really good movie. If you've never seen it yet, it's a good one to put on your "watch" list.
Do Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! count?
I love Judge Judy too!:smiley37::smiley36:
Just for grins momma and I attended a Wheel taping out in Las Vegas a few years ago. We were way, way, way, WAY in the back. Was surprised how big the audience was - it was crazy...
You should be watching Last Man Standing too. I would imagine you would love the occasional digs on the democrats... :smiley36:
Yes, we watch Last Man Standing as often as possible.:smiley4: Probably the only sitcom on the major networks that's any good.
I missed it last night because I was at a political event (yes, I know you're shocked). I was wearing my Chicago flag lapel pin and for the first time ever, someone came up to me and identified it.:smiley3: Usually I get the question "What's that?" and when I tell them I also tell them what the three white stripes and the two blue stripes stand for and the four stars. Each of the six points of the four stars represent something too but I'm not THAT good enough to remember another 24 pieces of information.:smiley5:
Turns out the guy who knew it was a Chicago flag was born and grew up in Lake County (sorry, he told me the name of the town and I forgot......). He's a huge Cubs fan and he's real excited about this year.:smiley29::smiley36:
So what do you think George, another Packers/Patriots Superbowl?
The Man in the High Tower
This is some good spy stuff!
Star Wars: The Force Awakens. On the BIG screen, in 3D, full Dolby sound - in full recliner seats, with Long Island Iced Tea! It does NOT get any better than that!!!
Not sure who has seen it - but have to say - I don't think there are any spoilers that are out there which will ruin the movie. It would take me quite a big post to destroy that movie for anyone wanting to see it. Bottom line - I am very pleased that Disney carried on in the same mode as the original Star Wars film. It was very refreshingly seamless! I enjoyed this one as much as I did the first...
I don't think it will win any Academy awards, but it will be one of those movies that a lot of people will want to add to their shelves to see again later.
