Reading through the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series again. I've read all the books before, but I enjoy re-reading the story, I always pick up something new and different.
On deck is The Steel Remains by Richard K Morgan.

SK's "Insomnia", and about to start Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle".
The Shack by WM. Paul Young.
Excellent read- best fiction I have read in over a decade and I am only half-way in.
My wife is reading it now. When she was half-way through, she didn't like it, but now she does, and wants me to read it. I'd be interested to hear what you thought about it after you've finished it.
I just finished Strange Adventures of Rangergirl, by Timothy Pratt. Haven't read a fiction book in a while. It was pretty good, I must say.
Now onto "The Second World: Empires and Influence in the New Global Order" by Parag Khanna.
Just After Sunset- Stephen King's latest collection of short stories. Pretty good but I think he's mellowed with age.
Just finished Tweak: Growing up on Methamphetamines. Not great, but realistic. And oh so much better than Jas. Frey's A Million Little Pieces (of Bullshit).
Current: A Lion Among Men - great writer. And, Power of the Dog.
Catch 22 ~ Joseph Heller
I started this novel previously, and I don't think I finished it.
This time I will.

A great read. I can see how some people would not like it. I do not feel like the author is trying to re-invent the spiritual wheel. Everything (except the fictional characters) has biblical context. I found this book to put a lot of basic, yet complex concepts in practical terms. Further, it does a great job in helping to strip everything down to what matters most- relationships. It is a book that I could read once a year and get something out of...
Awesome book!
Academ's Fury by Jim Butcher
Installation instructions on a Larson storm door:smiley38:
So, I casually picked up this book on Thursday and will probably finish it tonight. I can't say it's the best fiction I've read in a decade, but there's something about it that keeps me plugging away at it every chance I get. It's definitely compelling, however.
The Digital Photography Book by Scott Kelby. Or I will be once it comes in.:smiley1:
Need to learn how to take full advantage of my new Nikon D40.
The Poem of the Cid - gotta teach a bunch of freshmen about Medieval Spain thursday, and this was one of their readings...
I just finished reading Watchmen, the whole thing took me maybe 3 days of reading off and on. Now I'm really excited to go see the movie and even more excited to get more Alan Moore books, I've already read his "Batman: The Killing Joke"
I'm still working on Duma Key, by Stephen King, but I only read that in bed so it's taking a little while.
Right now I'm working on some Middle East Politics book for class. Soooooo hard to concentrate on.
Killing Joke is a classic. Need to pick up Watchmen after i finish Arkham Asylum.
Notes from a small Island ~ Bill Bryson
I started this tonight for beddie bye for the bay bay

Bill Bryson is the chancellor of my school... And the only reason for that is because of Notes from a Small Island (Durham's the only place he doesn't slag off in there). He's a nice guy, enjoys talking to Americans when he meets them...
Staring on The Pearl / The Red Pony by John Steinbeck tonight
Never returned this required reading one in high school....:smiley17:

Outliers - Malcolm Gladwell
Interesting stuff.
I'm excited about starting "Dog on It" by Spencer Quinn.
It's a detective novel and the entire book is taken from the perspective of a dog.
Just finished Venetian Masque by Rafael Sabatini. Don't know what I'm gonna read next... maybe Atlas Shrugged
I've heard Atlas Shrugged is a good read but it's a bear to get through. It's taken my fiance about 7 months thus far. Let me know what you think!

About to start reading 30 students' finals on Ethics and 30 students' papers on Nietzsche's Genealogy of Morals and Kant's Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals!!!! YAY!!!! Anybody else want to grade for me? You can just give them all C-'s to C+'s in a random fashion.
Never got around to Atlas Shrugged, but the lady fan just surprised me with a copy of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies... Currently working my way through it.

Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee
Atlas Shrugged is one long, boring read! I know the objectivist philosophy of Ayn Rand is a very popular subject right now, but do yourself a favor and get the cliff notes. Whether you agree or disagree with her philosophy, once you read that book, you'll probably regret having spent the time.
However, that's just one man's opinion. (One man who's most recent read is the new issue of Maxim.)
I'm about to start Stephen King's "The Stand" again.
