I never had a good smoke on a pipe. I could never keep it lit. Finally had a decent one today. I'm still not a pipe guy but I am figuring it out slowly. Just Black Cavandish.
Smoking royal vanilla in my doctor Graybow's briar. It's a great night to sit out by the fire!
Black cavendish by the fire! Nice night.
Tonight Davidoff's Scottish mixture in my briar pipe
brandy buck in my dr grey bows briar.
I am starting to pick up the pipe more lately. I'm not real hardcore with it yet, sticking to a simple, mild aromatic house blend from a local shop at the moment called Cades Cove Cavendish. I've been taking notes from this thread though and I am about to try some new blends.
Some Captain Black Gold in my new briar.
Old dominion in my dr grey bows briar
Tonight Boswell's sweet and mild in my doctor Graybows briar.
I'm new to pipes, I want to like 'em but find it to be too much work. I think I just need to get used to packing/lighting/tamping correctly... so everything. Just had Black Watch today and really liked it. Does anybody have any recommendations for blends that a Padron cigar fan might like? Or are pipe blends and cigars too different?
My first bowl of Chelsea Morning (and in fact my first non-Captain Black). All kinds of trouble keeping it lit, but a decent smoke otherwise.
Tonight I am enjoying a bowl of very cherry. It's good and it's been a while.
C&D - A&C in a Patriot cobb. First time I've picked up a pipe in months.
Tonight black Cavendish.
Tonight I enjoyed a bowl of savenelli motto dulce. Oh crap it is all gone! Obviously I enjoy this one,
Tonight I'm having Boswell's Christmas cookie in my briar.
Tonight is Samuel Gawwith's rum flake.
Tonight rum and maple. I guess you could say I been hitting the pipe kind of a lot lately.
Chelsea Morning in my briar. Smoked out on my patio this morning with coffee - the tobacco definitely paired well with it, a much better experience than when I smoked it dry. What a great way to start the day.
Frog Morton on the town.
Spent the day in tourist trap Gatlinburg today. Stopped by the Gatlinburlier shop and picked up my second of their house pipes and the gentleman loaded a bowl of something called Navy Flake. I'm digging it so far. Very smooth smoke with a little spice. Much more satisfying than the aromatics I've been smoking.
Tonight Davidoff Scottish mixture.
Tonight Boswell's Christmas cookie
Went camping this weekend with the corncob: "Blue Note" from John T's in Newark, CA and G.L. Pease - Charing Cross.
Last night rum and maple.
Roger, you inspired me to order some Boswell's blends. Thank you, I have enjoyed everyone I have tried so far.
Davidoff Scottish mixture.
Yeah, I have been leaning to the pipe more than cigars lately. They seem to be a better fit in my schedule when I don't have an hour or two to smoke a cigar.
Almost a contradiction in terms, smoking Dunhill in a corn cob!
I only smoke corn cobs, though, and have off and on for nearly thirty years(when I wasn't not smoking).
I used to smoke Navy Flake from Tinder Box when there was a Tinder Box in every mall around Chicago. I always just rubbed it out and loaded it like normal. I only recently found out about the "fold and stuff" method of loading it. Now, I'll never smoke anything but flake.
Fribourg & Treyer Special Brown Flake in a L'Anatra Poker d'Assi.
