Ninkasi as a whole, like many NW breweries, tend to over-hop their brews (IMO). They have a lot IPAs. Generally I'm not a fan of IPAs, but if they balance the bitterness of the hops with the flavor of the hops and other ingredients, then I like them.
That said, I did like the Tricerahops I had once and I do enjoy Radiant Ale (summer seasonal).
I thought the Believer Double Red and Sleigh'r Dark Double Alt (fall seasonal) were unbalanced bitter.
As for the less-hoppy offerings, I've always enjoyed Oatis Oatmeal Stout, the Renewale Porter (winter 2012) is good, and the Imperiale Stout (special release) isn't balanced (too bitter) for me.
Picked up a 6 pack of Rodenbach for tonight. Love those sour ales.
Some nice ales out of France. Next to Flanders ales some of my favorites. Even thought the Irish did not fear well in Flanders. Reminds me of Johnny McGory an old song, sung by a man who I was proud to call a freind and enjoyed many a cigar with, Ronnie, I miss you everyday.

Drank entirely too much Shiner Blonde, scotch, punch and champagne ringing in the New Year...think I need to take a break over the next few days. :smiley11:

Indeed...the only upside was that my wife partied a little too much also so I didn't have to ______ (enter in anything here she always seems to want to do when I have a hangover, such as go to the farmer's market) :smiley36:
4 pk of Petrus Oud Bruin
Founders ~ Porter
I believe this is setting a benchmark for me with porters.

Rodenbach Grand Cru 750ml
I've been on a beer kick as of late.
Used to homebrew, everything from scratch, ground my own grain, the whole works, kegged my beer, had a 4 tap fridge. Really love the heavy beers, Russian Imperial Stout, Trippels and Dubbels, but dont confine myself to those. No more time to homebrew, but a lot of great choices on the market, and one good brewpub in Charleston and a very good one in Savannah.

Enjoying a Thistly Cross Hard Cider from Scotland. Nice scrumpy type cider.
But at $7.00 for a 355ml bottle, I won't be enjoying it often.
Butternuts ~ Porkslap Pale Ale
Butternuts ~ Heinneiwesser Weissebier
Butternuts ~ Snapperhead IPA
bleh. This sampler case was a mistake...:smiley21:
There's also a Butternuts ~ Stout that's in the case that I had last night that was the best out of the bunch, but still not too whippy.
***'sarge, don't read this***
Dogfishead ~ 90min IPA:smiley4:

Is it wrong that I want one of those for breakfast right now? :smiley36:
Interesting response a local brewery, Freetail Brewing, made to a cease and desist letter. :smiley36: Coincidentally, about another dinosaur themed name...

Stone Brewing ~ Sublimely Self Righteous Ale
Dragonmead Brewery: Erik the Red and Under the Kilt Wee Heavy are two new ones I like. Have been on a kick of only local Michigan brewery beers lately.
Up until now in my beer drinking career, I haven't much cared for the Belgian beers - they always seem too light to me, a bit of floral/fruity tasting, and just not really my style of beer.
And then a trusted beer friend I know suggested a St. Bernardus ABT 12.
Figuring I'd give this a valiant effort, I even went out and bought one of the beer glasses it shows a picture of on the bottle, rather than using a traditional pint glass, in hopes of heightening this experience.
While the first few sips (this isn't a beer you would chug) still had that light, floral, borderline bitter taste to it, I eventually warmed up to it. Absolutely fantastic beer!
Any other suggestions in terms of Belgians? I've tried the Chimays and Duvels.
I went to SunUp last night for a special tapping of two cask ales for the local Homebrew clubs. One was a strong Scotch Ale and the other was a Double Red in conjunction with our local Beer Week celebration. Along with the Double Red, I smoked a Gurkha Black Dragon Robusto. Luckily the Red wasn't overly hopped.
Otter Creek Brewing ~ 20th Anny Ale
I finally found a place close by that sells New Holland's Dragon's Milk!!!! But it ended up being ~$36.00 for a 6-pack! And that is with a discount! :smiley7::smiley19:
Looks like I'll be driving to the further place still, they have it on tap and sell it by the jug for about ~$15.00. I'll take cheaper beer that will go flat over the more expensive bottles.
Sweetwater 420. Local brew that has really taken off. Anyone heard of it?
Wow! A lot of people in the SE have never even heard of Sweetwater. That's really awesome. I have an uncle that passes through from NY to Fla and back a few times a year and he always grabs a case or two of 420 to take with him. I agree the Ga Brown is really good, just a little heavy with the sweltering heat we have here. If you like that you should (if you ever get the chance) try their seasonal brews. Again, heavy but damn good.
I generally like my beer "heavy" so if I'm ever in Georgia I'll be sure to check them out.
You can sorta see the Georgia Brown label in the third picture, left of the Boont ESB label
And the 420 label in the fifth picture, about 3 labels to the right of the Packers logo.

Fantastic work!!! :smiley20: No missing that beauty of a rainbow jumping out of the Hooch. Also, you just gave me a great idea for my next set of Cornhole boards that I build.
Here's a couple terrible pics of my 1st attempt. Can't seem to find pics of my Yankees and Jets boards right now.

Sorry for getting off topic.
Paulaner Wheezin Heffer
Ommegang ~ Abbey Ale:smiley20:
Private Stock Spirits ~ Pong lite:smiley6:
I made the mistake at my local distributor of commenting on this beer while checking out. I said something to the effect of "Oh gawd...Pong?" Whereupon, he said "Oh, it's not bad "for what it is"" and whipped one out of an open case he had there. I mean, I guess that was nice.
This shit is pure water. I can't taste anything in it.:smiley21:
