what are you listening to today?

With encouragement from this post, I'm gonna just start this, and see if it catches.

What's the coolest album you've heard recently? Could be anything, really. I guess I'm looking for this to be a place where we can talk about recent albums we've heard that we've liked or hated.

For me, it's been 2 albums in pretty much constant rotation in the last week: an album called The Audeience's Listening by Cut Chemist, and Cat Scratch Fever by Ted Nugent.

Usually, I listen to an album to death for about 2 weeks, then move on. Sometimes it stays on for quite some time beyond that, though.

This is either going to take off, or die unceremoniously.

lately I've been listening to a lot of Flogging Molly's Within a Mile of Home

Right now, Ingrid Michaelson. Love the song "You and I".

All different, all really good.

That's crazy - I have LW's Little Honey in my truck CD player right now - it's pretty good. I think I liked Car Wheels better.

Also, Twillight Singers, a stitch in time with Mark Lanegan, Pearl Jam rear view mirror. Have Lanegan and Isobell Campbell CD on it's way from amazon.

I like The Streets. I don't know that I've heard this album of theirs/his before. I'll have to check again. Funny shit, if you can keep up with the British terms and euphemisms and understand what he's saying.

I looove minus the bear. They just played a free show here in Jacksonville. I didn't make it because I didn't know it was free. :smiley6:

Yeah, they are really good. A friend of mine recently turned me on to them. They fit my taste perfectly.

Totally agree about Car Wheels, fantastic album. However, I'd rate Little Honey higher than last years "West."

I've met and hung out with a few guys from Modest Mouse a few years ago, during the Moon and Antarctica (which is also my favorite album of theirs) tour. I didn't even know who they were until I met them and they invited a friend and I to their show.
I've seen them live twice now, and I'd love to see them again now that Johnny Marr is playing with them.

That's awesome. I've never met them, but I have seen them live about 6 times, maybe more. Moon and Antarctica is a great album. I think I've had this cd sitting in my car's changer for the past year, at least.

This month "most played" were

at this moment, She's Gone by Hall and Oates baby!

Say what you will, but this is some butter smooth groovin' stuff.

Rocked the new GN'R Chinese Democracy twice today. Fifteen years in the waiting. Interesting :smiley5: I am very much undecided on this. Half of me is dumbfounded and the other kind of likes it or at least parts of it.

Been on a Grant Lee Buffalo kick all morning. Sounding oh so good as always.

I'm trying to wrap my head around what a NIN concert would be like. You do know he has released the last two albums online, right? Check out their website - they also have a remix website available for aspiring DJ's.

Ya, it might be a little weird, but it can't be any weirder than a Tool concert. That was one of the strangest things I've ever seen.
I dl'd the albums when they came out; they're currently in heavy ipod rotation when I go to the gym. I like to get as familiar as possible with a band before I see them live.

NIN concerts are not weird at all. I've seen them live at least 20 times. They always put on an amazing show. They didn't come to NY for some reason on this tour. You will definitely enjoy it. Have fun.

Man as good as tool is, i would never see thse guys in concert. After seeing the video for schism (best bass line ever in IMHO) i have been a little creeped out by them.

Today: Fireball Ministry, Paul Westerberg, and some good ole' Nina Simone

Jazzin out on some Ella Fitzgerald tonight. Earlier, it was some PM Dawn. Later on, I think I'll introduce my wife to the Boards of Canada.

My 19-year-old talked me into going to see Papa Roach, Seether, and Staind with her tonight. It was fucking awesome!!
