Prayers Please

I am a firm believer in the power of prayer. I have witnessed and personally received many blessings, gifts and miracles (situations completely turned around when otherwise grim or hopeless) through being in relationship with God (or whatever supreme being as you may define) through prayer. The more people praying for something makes the act even that much more powerful.

The wife and I spent the evening at the hospital and I am pretty much in shock and as restless as a house cat at the moment. My Mother was admitted to the ICU last night. She is currently on life support (mechanical ventilator). Her lungs are not working due to pnemonia and bronchitis on top of existing chronic emphysema. Her Kidneys are also not functioning. She is only 54 years young. I cannot seem to get straight answers from the doctors although I know they are doing what they can.

If you are so inclined, please offer up a quick prayer or kind thought that my Mother (Margaret) will pull through this...

I am so sorry to hear that your mother is ill. Margaret is my middle name. Named after my grandmother's best friend who we called Aunt Margy I will say prayers for her and your family. I know how scary that is to watch. Here is a big hug :smiley31:

Quick update-

The good news: Kidneys are starting to function again- slow, but yes

The bad news: Chest/Lungs not looking good.

She will be there for several weeks assuming she pulls through. Just got off the phone with my Pops. The doctors quoted him a 20-50% chance of surviving. Huge range, I know. We will be heading back up tonight and I will post again if I hear of any major developments.

We're pulling for you and your mom up here in MT.

Any news? Just thinking of you.

Quick update. Mom is no longer on life support. Mechanical ventilators are only so good for so long so they did a tracheotomy (sc?) last week in hopes of helping her breath on her own. We have almost lost her a couple times and up until a couple of days ago, her lungs were not really responding positively. Suddenly, she started to do better and as of yesterday I was able to see her with her eyes open and even got a smile. No idea how long she will be there or what the next steps are but I feel really encouraged!!! Thanks all for the kind thoughts and prayers everyone:smiley20:
