Your Worst Experience With a Cigar

My worst experience was with a Don Thomas Corona, It came in a yellow metal tube. It started out okay and actually had a decent flavor and aroma. So after a few puffs I let it rest for a few seconds like I usually do and it went completely out. So I relight it and and I notice that the wrapper was turning black on part of the cigar half way down from the tip. It was burning the tobacco down the middle of the cigar and not the outside at all. So I thought It was just a bad part of the cigar so I cut the end that burned bad and lit it again the same thing happened and it burned up the middle so fast the second time it burned the crap out of my lip. Was this a faulty:smiley13: cigar, did I do something wrong or does Don Thomas cigars just suck.

Very informative, it did mention alot about bad wrappers, but I was just trying to start a topic to get other peoples bad experiences they may have had with a cigar.

When I first started smoking and thought all cigars were pretty much the same. I went out and bought a box of Garcia y Vega. :smiley11::smiley11::smiley11:

I smoked during the 90,s first boom boom era. Pretty every cigar out there made by a "don" named company sucked old donkey balls.

Someone gave me a Victor Sinclair cigar when I was first starting out into this hobby. I'd been smoking quite a bit, in an effort to learn more about what I liked and didn't like in this new hobby. I quickly realized that there were great sticks, good sticks and then complete shit. The stems were so prevalent in the wrapper, it messed up the burn. I don't think I made it halfway through that cigar.

I have to disagree. I got a box of Don Kiki 2000 for Christmas 1year. They were one of the best smokes I ever had.

Is the Don Kiki considered a boom cigar? Is it still in production?

One time I spilled paint in the garage and my dad burned me with his cigar. No, wait. That was The Breakfast Club. Honestly, I smoke cigars for relaxation and contemplation. So very rarely do I have bad experiences with them.

So, no one has been half in the bag and stuck the wrong end of a lit cigar in his mouth? Yea, right.:smiley36:

Oh, thanks for the reminder Doc. I didn't stick the lit end in my mouth, but I did once drunkenly try to re-light a nub of a cigar that went out on me. Stupidly I tried to light it while it was in my mouth and left a nice little torch mark on my chin from my lighter. The burnt flesh smell had hints of chocolate and rich leather.

Did that more than once with cigarettes while drinking back in the day. The other thing that happened more than once was when my lips would be all sticky and I'd go to pull my smoke out of my mouth after taking a drag and the cig would stick to my lips and I'd pull the cherry off between my fingers. That was usually good for a nice double blister, one on each finger. But since I don't drink any more, I haven't and likely never will have either happen to me with a cigar.

My worst experiences are always with cigars that are either too tight or the wrapper splits and neither is an issue I've discovered to be associated with any one make/model.

The too tight issue isn't something I can do anything about but if I bought it at my favorite B&M, he'll replace a too tight cigar free. However, that's a 2 hour drive from here so I don't always hang onto them. Sometimes I'll chop them off and smoke half, or three quarters or whatever I can get out of it.

Now that I've found the best RH for where I live I don't have too many where the wrapper splits. I did recently drop an RyJ Churchill I was about to smoke and it bounced off my humi and hit the floor. That fall and bounce tore the wrapper up badly so I grabbed another. I don't think there's anything worse that effing up your own cigar yourself........LOL

I'll post my review of a draw tool (that actually works) once I take some pics. Tight draws are not a problem for me anymore. :-)

I use the Don Salvatore Havana Draw Enhancer. Looks like a pen , when opend has a thin serated poker.
Every now and again when I cut a cigar and can not pull air threw it, I use this tool. Works everytime.

Awesome guys, I'd love some info on a draw tool for too tight cigars.

I've read of people drilling out their cigars with a power drill and small bit, although that sounds a tad barbaric

I Took my girlfriend to jamacia this past summer for our anniversary and there was a very nice cigar stand inside our hotel. I sampled many cigars from the stand and all of them were top notch. Then on the last day as a suprise she bought me a Cohiba Siglo II. I was very happy about this as most would be so i waited all day to have it after dinner and when i did, good lord. First of all it took about 5 min to light, the construction was horribal, it burned very slow on one side and to fast on the other, and would not stay lit to save my life, not to mention the taste was like drift wood. It must have been fake cuz every other cohiba ive had has been excelent, i felt bad that she got tricked but she ment well and shit happens.

It is fair to say there are NO real Cuban cigars anywhere in Jamaica. Start with that premise the next time someone offers you the "real deal".... :smiley2:

o ya I figured as much that's why I dident bother buying Cubans in jamacia,as I said my girlfriend was tricked into them when I was not around, I don't blame her to much tho, she's got no idea she was just being nice.

Worst experience ever for me is by far the Acid Kuba Kuba. First and last flavored cigar.

BTW Kev just look on the bright side if you get voted out of the contest because you're top guy you do in my opinion get some bragging ability that you were so badass you we had to take you out first cause you scared us.
