Davidoff, VSG, Cuban Cohiba, etc Freebie

While browsing this past issue of Cigar Aficionado, I came across an ad for Cigar500.com stating that they were giving out a single free cigar to CA readers who visited their site. This has been done many times before by other companies, but this site is offering cigars like a Cohiba Robusto (isom), Monte Edmundo (isom), Ashton VSG, Davidoff 2000, etc.

As it turns out, you still have to pay $1.00 for "handling". So, while the cigar isn't "FREE", you still get free shipping and a $15+ cigar for $1.00. I got the Cohiba Robusto.

Steps:

go to www.Cigar500.com/specials

enter key code: CA1000

and pick your stick.

I got an invoice within 5 minutes of the order, so things are looking good. I'll post again when the cigar gets here (hopefully it WILL get here!).

For reference, it's in the August 2007 CA with Tom Beringer on the cover. The ad is on page 147.

Well, all of their other prices seem extremely high. I'm guessing that they're trying to build up loyalty and confidence among potential customers by giving out free cigars, and hoping that recipients will come back there for business (and spend more than they would at another vendor).

We'll see if I either A. Get the smoke or B. File for bank fraud or identity theft :)

I am sure it is a legit offer, however with the way the OFAC has been cracking down on Americans trading Cuban goods recently, I would be weary of who gets my info if I was a citizen.

Looks really tempting... but I think I'll wait until I see a post of the receipt... and credit card statement... :smiley9:

Heh, I'll confirm both once I get them. I am happy to be a pioneer here and take one for the greater Cigarsmokers team. :smiley17: Especially since by "take one", I mean "potentially get a world-class cigar for a buck".

Quick update...it's been 24 hours and it has yet to hit my account....hmmmm....

No charges yet to my bank account...which can be interpreted as both good and bad. The cigar hasn't shipped yet, but at least my bank account hasn't been robbed.

People have began to receive these on other forums.

i did it too... but i did go with the Zino instead of an ISOM like drew_goring said...

People are receiving all the ISOM's from different states in the US not canada...I went for it. :eek:

anybody actually get thiers? my account on cigar500 shows it shipped on 7/06/07 but I've not recieved it...

The people that I know got theirs said it took a while to get... <shrug>

My account on their site still has the order as "Pending"

Okay, so I came home to a tiny little package from Cigar500.com this afternoon. My sample partagas serie D was absolutely crammed into a Davidoff box. The wrapper and binder were split all the way to the band.

I'm not really sure what I expected for a dollar, but this certainly doesn't encourage me to purchase from the company in the future.

I can't wait to see if anyone else has similar issues.

Bright side: a cuban for a buck.

I received my Cohiba Siglo II in a nice cohiba single box which was then wrapped in plastic. Upon inspection of the cigar I found that the cigar inside was without defect...actually it was quite beautiful. I was impressed. I am sorry to hear that others have not encountered a similar situation.

Got my Partagas Serie D #4 in a Davidoff box today. Perfect condition, gonna let it sit for a bit before I fire it up.

ooh, this is exciting... hope mine comes soon.

Great minds think alike.....I just picked the zino myself and had no trouble with the order.

Well I did receive my Edmundo. I must say it looks great. No splits, tears or crunchiness. Although I will say it was slightly ovaled from being crammed into that Davidoff box.

So I take off early today and come home and there is a little package in my mailbox. I open it up and there is a little Cohiba Box. My Cohiba Robustos came in just fine. The band looks good, the construction looks excellent, and the size and ring match up to what it is supposed to be, but I don't really have the experience to tell the difference between the genuine article and a fake. I can't imagine this company doing much business if it is in the practice of selling fakes though.

if you want to find out if its fake, check the band... look at it very carefully.

I missed out on the robusto but have a sig II coming.

I checked the band against all the references I could find on real and fake ISOM's and if its a fake, its a damn good one.

Ditto for me too! Though the box was wrapped in Saran-Wrap which seemed a bit unprofessional to me. It looked like a buddy set it to me.

yeah, haha, very high class shipping... but i got my stick in too, and it looks great. no complaints here.
