I saw the Torpedo in this line got a 94 rating and the number 4 spot in CA's Top 25 of 2007 List. So naturally I just ordered a Belicioso off of Tampa Humidor to see what all the hype is about. Anybody got a take on this one?

Not the torp, but a couple of others. The V did not do much for me. I found it one dimensional and boring for the price.
I love the O's and MB's and smoke an occasional S.
just got through smoking the Series V Torp. Pretty dang good cigar. Good price, too. I paid a little over $5. Can't go wrong with Oliva.Quote:

I was fortunate enough to be gifted one during a Baltimore Herf. Great smoke! I liked it so much, I went and tried to buy some at the local B&M. All sold out in all my local B&Ms. Went out of town and noticed a B&M had 15 left of the Double Robustos. Took them all, and smoked one that evening. It was great!
IMO everything from the Special G to the MB3 are good to very good. I have tried most of them with the Special S being one of my favorites. The Serie V is certainly at the top of my list with Serie O my least favorite although I wouldn't give them to the goats.
There is a reason why alot of people can't keep the V's on the shelf.

they are great......i have problems keeping them in stock. IMO Oliva is a great company. FYI......i'm hearing sizeable increase in production on the V line and quality could suffer.
The V's are pretty damn good for me. I love the lancero, we've been selling them so fast they don't stay on the shelves at the cigar shop I work at. I've yet to try the other sizes, but the next shipment of lanceros we get, I'm in for a whole box. Plus it's a bargain at only $5.
Well, whenever that box comes in.....give me a shout, maybe we can work something out for a 5er trade. I've been buying 2-3 lanceros everytime I go to the b/m.....except yesterday, they were out!! I don't expect them to be replaced very soon. They did have other sizes though so I'm not gonna have to go totally without.Quote:

Although I'm usually skeptical about high reviews, the guys at CA were pretty spot on with the V Torpedo. Solid smoke. One of the smoothest full-bodied cigars that I've had. Price is great. Hope that this new popularity in Oliva won't hurt quality control.

I favor the torpedos & double robustos. Had a few lanceros that were on the weak side. I expect lanceros to be stronger, but that hasn't been the case for me and the V. Also, the double toro is a he-man stogie. Good, but alot of tobacco there. The one I had yesterday split about half way, but remained smokable with a few touch ups. Wasn't able to nub as it got sorta skanky at about 1 1/2". I'm giving $5 for double robustos and they are easily worth that to me. Can't wait to see the next Oliva. Saw somewhere they are calling it the Nub.
Ya, there is a link over on Cigar Pass about it. It's not really an Oliva cigar, more of a Sam Leccia cigar. I think it's just rolled by Oliva. They are short and fat. Like 4"x60.Quote:
