Pre-light: Rough looking little critter. Maduro shade wrapper, veiny / splotchy look. Faint sweet tobacco scent. Not much prelight flavor. Faint sweet tobacco.

Light: Easy with a light to medium draw.

1st 3rd: Nice plain tobacco flavor with some faint sweet tobacco, nutty cashew flavors and a slight bit of toothiness. Nice draw. Light to medium body, with a light to medium flavor.

Ash: White and charcoal gray mottled. Holds on for about 1”

2nd 3rd: Smooth. Any trace of bite is gone. Still a plain, sweet tobacco flavor. Slight nutty flavors, light body and relaxing.

3rd 3rd: Picking up some slight strength again with some oily bite. Still sweet tobacco dominant with a nutty flavor still there.

Overall impression: Very mellow and enjoyable. Still, probably not going to seek anymore out (JR Cigars) as it doesn’t quite match my current palate.

I'll just say that while I didn't smoke this one recently, and haven't had a madurito in even longer, I still didn't think they have the same profile at all. This was much more mellow than I remember a madurito being. I'll have to hit Dan up for one next time he visits. I'm sure he still has 3 boxes from 4 years ago when someone posted a two for $40 sale.:smiley36:

I always bought the maduritos myself but I heard as story from Lew Rothman about Nestor saying they were the same. Who knows since cigar men are mostly BS and misinformation LOL

When fresh the maduritos always had a serious bite for me. Let 'em age for a year or so and they are a different cigar, more like what you described the TKO as imho.

I'll see if I have any lying around for you, Will, to see how it compares to this stick, but I'm not sure how that comparison is possible since you were able to smoke the TKO 6 months in the future and somehow sent your review back, so you haven't really smoked it yet.

I have to admit that I was in a time-warp for a minute or two there....I kept thinking...man that ashtray looks like it doesn't have a scratch on it...what's going on?

I didn't realize that it was because it was in the future past!

My reviews traverse the space time continuum. duh.

I never kept maduritos long enough. I think I might be able to compare it if Dan-o has one burried somewhere. Next time!!!
