Woke up this morning, sun was shining, had the windows and the doors off the jeep, popped in a Five Finger Death Punch/Disturbed/Breaking Benjamin/ Sevendust mix and blasted to school... that's one way to wake up in the morning!

Had to go refresh my memory of this album, since the last time I listened to it was the first time I had heard it, and that was while we were moving. I really like it a lot. I checked out a few YouTube videos and her website before I committed. I'm always looking for new jazz talent that doesn't suck, which, in my opinion, is rare these days.
This is her third album (I think), and I think it's very good. It's not "smooth jazz" - and her voice reminds me more of Diana Krall than, say, Lauren Hill or Erykah Badu. While she does play the upright bass, it's more of a compliment to the music than the feature. More like Coltrane, less like Mingus. No horns - or at least not many.
Overall, I really like this album. Been listening to it pretty much nonstop since I saw your post last night.
Big music fan here, not sure why it's taken me so long to chime in...
Charles Bradley- No time for dreamin' (most likely my favorite album of the year...and it's only March)
Aesop Rock- Labor Days
And hopefully, fingers crossed, the new Pharoah Monch album later :smiley1:
Steel Eye Span, Fairport Convention, Incredible String Band and Sandy Denney. Reliving my English folk rock days. Waxing nostalgic, smoking a cigar and drinking scotch.
